i think we are done here...

but i am sure your two second wiki search made you an expert, huh?
I didn't pan anything. I simply said there is no consensus amongst historians. One historian does not make a consensus.

I also didn't say I'm an expert. I also shouldn't have to read a book for him to recite facts that back up his claims. If the things he says are so well known and accepted, certainly, there would be a myriad of sources other than one particular book and only one particular book.

So again I ask, what contemporary accounts of Jesus exist and what do they say? It's a simple question. I don't need to read a 500 page book first for him to answer this.

Well said.

I just find it funny that if the things he says are so well accepted and so well known that wiki article that cited a number of scholars, with footnotes, doesn't mention it.

According to him, only one particular book written by one particular author ... Is authoritative ... even though there is supposedly a consensus amongst historians.

I didn't back peddle. I said this about your book:

"Again, it’s all speculation. There isn’t much contemporary to go by. Sounds like this author has studied the general mood of the time and imputed that this necessarily means Jesus reflected the general mood of the time."

That's not panning or severe criticism. If that's severe to you, you need to toughen up and I'm not sure how you lasted so long on topix.

Those are biblical scholars and that theory concerns the origin of certain Gospels in the bible, not the historical real Jesus and what he was really like, which is what I was discussing.

In fact that wiki article of yours says:

"If Q did exist, it has since been lost. Some scholars believe it can be partially reconstructed by examining elements common to Matthew and Luke (but absent from Mark). This reconstructed Q is notable in that it generally does not describe the events of the life of Jesus: Q does not mention Jesus' birth, his selection of the 12 disciples, his crucifixion, or the resurrection. Instead, it appears to be a collection of Jesus' sayings and quotations."

So even if this document did exist it doesn't suggest or support the notion that Jesus had Supernatural powers or even describe his life. I don't think folks today worship him if he just is a mortal man who had some interesting quotes regarding his thoughts on god.

if you knew anything about it, you would also know actual historians also entertain the Q source concept..

but again, keep thinking you actually know what you are talking about...youhadn't even heard fo the Q source previous to this and now you feel you can talk about it with any credibility?

what a joke you are...
