MY totally unproven concept is the correct one. It's as valid as any of the others.:)

By doing so, he decided on his own to go against the teachings in the Book of Mormon.
It was not decided because God changed his mind. God doesn't make mistakes. Man does.
How is it decided that one is a prophet?

We believe that God offers continuing revelation, not that he made a mistake. A prophet is chosen through revelation and prayer.

n you ain't talking about any of the gods of the religious cults on this earth...

start with page one of the bible if that is your god...he can't even get his own creation story correct. we know the earth was not fully formed and filled with plants before the sun was formed. proven fact. your god almost got it right...pretty close for an infallible god.

off to dinner so let me just hit the usual response about human error in translating that word. the bible is predicated on being of divine inspiration. if you want to prove that false, then the bible, the only source for that god, is just the work of man, and thus so is the god therein.
if you want to talk of 'almost divine inspiriation', you are not worthy of talking to about this...

take it away!!!! say grace for me for the bounty I BROUGHT to my table...no gods needed.

<quoted text>Yes, if that is one's vision of god, and the believer follows it. However, I've noticed that not all people of the same religion behave in the same way. For example, one can be Catholic yet not subscribe to that view of god. It is the many believers who make up their own distortions to suit themselves.
My sons attended Catholic middle school and hIgh school. Lo and behold, both were ideologically left-leaning schools, and went out of their way to help the poor. To me it is a matter of behavior. If you live a life of compassion for others, I don't care if you believe in a god or not.
It is one thing to help the poor. It is another to create ten fold of them in the process. "Obama care" comes to mind.$3.69 gas and $4.00 propane don't help either. Do the Democrats EVEN HAVE an "ENERGY POLICY", other than to make it the most expensive as possible????

<quoted text>praying to a god that condones slavery, the subjugation of women and killing those that do not believe as you do would get in the way of being a good person. wouldn't it?
Does it? I believe in a loving God. The greatest commandment we have been given is to love one another.

Your argument is senseless. Lets use Charles Manson for example. He isn't Christian. He does not subscribe to the beliefs of Christians. So what stands in his way of being a good person?

So God gets all the credit for the good stuff, and none of the blame for the bad stuff?

And another question. If people had free will, why in the hell would they choose to join the Tea Party, and become marionettes for The Great Stromboli?

Your name describes you well. Obama, Messiah though he is, does not control the world's oil prices.

It is not "one thing" to help the poor. It is everything that matters in being a noble human being.
You will of course explain what factors contribute to the making of more poor. I don't suppose the obstruction of a jobs bill, or denying the extension of unemployment benefits, or opposing an increase in the minimum wage, or sub-standard public schools would have anything to do with it.

Perhaps you should go back and re-read starting at page one.
As you are once again wrong and have proven nothing.

You are always claiming "Proven Fact" but show nothing to support your claims.

Since the entire Bible (take your pick) was written and translated by man, there is where the problem lies, with man.

I am sure you can find many discrepancies in the Bible, but God didn't write it.
Man is fallible, he makes mistakes, and all too often he gets it wrong.

The only things I need concern myself with are God's laws. Not stories of our creation.

You cannot disprove God.
You cannot disprove God created the Heavens and Earth.
You cannot disprove God created all life on Earth.

Why don't people read The Bill Of Rights ? Specifically the 9th Amendment and the 10th Amendment.

Government can create an environment that creates jobs. And government, at least our government, is supposed to provide a safety net to keep the needy from falling through the cracks. Sadly, it doesn't alway succeed.

As for your totalitarianism shtick in describing the U.S., I got past that when I was 16.

In 1939, Russia invaded Poland and the U.S. did nothing.

In 1956, Russia invaded Hungary and the U.S. did nothing.

In 1968, Russia invaded Czechoslovakia and the U.S. did nothing.

In 1979, Russia invaded Afghanistan and the U.S. did nothing.

In 2008, Russia invaded Georgia and the U.S. did nothing.

In 2014, Russia invaded Ukraine and the U.S. did nothing.

Why should Putin worry about what the U.S. thinks whenever Russia invades a country ?
