No matter what names you 350 lb. lard barrels go by, I believe you all look the same..... . And to the right side of your monitor is a 12 lb. box of chocolate bon-bons. And you all have an opened can of cheap sardines and a cat named Mitzi to the left of the monitor.

This above all: to thine own self be true,
And it must follow, as the night the day,
Thou canst not then be false to any man.

Corporate-Funded Online 'Astroturfing' Is More Advanced and More Automated Than You Might Think
Every month more evidence piles up, suggesting that online comment threads and forums are being hijacked by people who arenít what they seem to be.

..."After I last wrote about online astroturfing, in December, I was contacted by a whistleblower. He was part of a commercial team employed to infest internet forums and comment threads on behalf of corporate clients, promoting their causes and arguing with anyone who opposed them. Like the other members of the team, he posed as a disinterested member of the public. Or, to be more accurate, as a crowd of disinterested members of the public: he used 70 personas, both to avoid detection and to create the impression that there was widespread support for his pro-corporate arguments".

Paid poster groups have been going on from the beginning but it is debate able how effective it is.

Political groups have been using it a long time and if you read all the Obama bashing going on here it would indicate it didn't work since he was reelected

Tobacco groups were some of the earliest but it didn't seem to help their cause either as the regulation and bans on public smoking continued it spite f it
