Better than eating your dog, I would think.
When it comes down to survival by eating your dog, or dieing because of societal pressure to not eat an edible animal (dog), I would cast of societal norms and survive thank you very much.

<quoted text>I don't watch survival tv shows. Those were things I thought of off the top of my head. I grew up in the sticks and I read a lot. Including books about nature, local wildlife and edible plants that you would find in the woods (like fiddlehead fern and dandelion).
How many people who grew up in the city can identify fiddle head fern or dandelions, or any other edible thing.
I remember reading Eull Gibbons book as a teen. According to him, parts of a library are edible......the librarian for instance.

I see you did not read the article
The dog was his long time companion
He did eat anything he could find
The dog was the last resort
When he was found he was days away from death....
I would be willing to bet that you also think that raising taxes on healthcare devices lowers the cost of them????
I would also bet you saw no problem when pelosi said we can't tell you what is in the oslacare bill until we vote it into law???
I did read the article. Like I said if your not familiar with your surroundings, and not prepared, definetly leave your best companion (dog) at home !
Don't bring politics into this, and I don't follow it anyway, so don't assume something. When u assume something u make an azz out of u and me.

Even if he was dying he could have eaten anything is what I meant to say, like grass or bark, or bugs. Worms are very nutritional, he could have eaten worms raw or fried em up, made a fire. The guy is a jerk.

You'd die before eating your dog?
Wow.
Maybe not such a bad idea. Help clean up the gene pool.
Like I said, 1st I would have made a trail, or not even go alone, esp. if I am not familiar with these surroundings, and left my dog at home. And I think I could get buy on worms and bugs till I was rescued.

For u to make a remark like u did, I can see your the one who needs to be removed from the gene pool.

A lost hiker who was days from death had to eat his beloved pet dog to survive in the wilderness.

Marco Lavoie, 44, was trapped with no food in Canada after a bear destroyed his supplies.

The Quebec climber was severely ill when he was airlifted to safety last week following a planned three month solo hike.

Starving after a bear ransacked his campsite and destroyed his canoe, he was forced to kill and eat his German shepherd who had bravely chased away the animal from camp.

Rescued from the Nottaway River wilderness near Montreal, Mr Lavoie had lost half his body weight, had hypothermia and was unable to speak.

If he had a knife he could have cut off a few toes a foot or some fingers and ate them. The sweet puppy could have eat some too because dogs cant eat trees or plants too good ya know that might be posion.

That's not what I stated. Hey if there are bugs to eat, or twigs, grass anything, I will choose the other stuff over my dog to survive.

THANK-U VERY-MUCH.

You just want to keep this up don't you....

I knew somebody would bring that up about the dog, that it can't eat trees or plants. Well leave the dog home then unless you are blind.

A dog is the best thing you can bring with you in the woods besides a gun

He could have been driving on a deserted old dirt road and had car troubles.........

He lost his form of transportation

So people should not drive with their dog??

Do you understand that you can't spend more calories looking for worms than you get from eating them......

He ate everything he could find before Hecate his best friend.......

You are on something?????
