Eat tree bark, berries, bugs and drink your own urine. What a joke. Most people would starve in a week if they had to try to survive using the tips from survival shows.
I don't watch survival tv shows. Those were things I thought of off the top of my head. I grew up in the sticks and I read a lot. Including books about nature, local wildlife and edible plants that you would find in the woods (like fiddlehead fern and dandelion).

I would think that anyone planning a 3 month 'hike' in bear country should at least have the sense to arm himself.
I also understand this report is from Britain's version of the Inquirer...
I think that should be spelled Enquirer. The Philadelphia INQUIRER is a decent newspaper, although a bit too liberal in their editorials.

Ok, well find something else to eat then. How about WORMS. Why even take his dog with him in the first place on a hiking trip where he is unfamiliar with the surroundings. He was lucky to have that dog when that bear came after him. Anyway, I have a hunch this story is a fake !!

Better to be hydrated than dehydrated. There are many things he could have done instead of eating his dog. Than he shouldn't be out there if he is unprepared or doesn't know what he is doing. Instead of getting lost, why not leave a trail for himself, mark trees, carry a compass. I don't even watch survival shows. Common sense would tell me don't go out hiking in the first place, if alone and inexperienced, or unprepared.

Keep the DOG home !

I see you did not read the article

The dog was his long time companion

He did eat anything he could find
The dog was the last resort
When he was found he was days away from death....

I would be willing to bet that you also think that raising taxes on healthcare devices lowers the cost of them????

I would also bet you saw no problem when pelosi said we can't tell you what is in the oslacare bill until we vote it into law???

You'd die before eating your dog?

Wow.

Maybe not such a bad idea. Help clean up the gene pool.

Lol I would soo eat my dog before I died in the woods. You can get another dog! Can't get another life. Smh at the folks who would chose to die to save one dog who was probably at deaths door also.

Here's an idea, if you're an ldiot that can't mark where you been, or have a gps locator with you, then keep your stupid azz at home. Poor dog had to die cause a ldiot got lost.
