Sounds like a publicity stunt to me, what a freak! He could have eaten grass, berries, leaves.

What a piece of garbage. The dog should have just let the bear have at him.

Ugh...yuck!! But he chose to survive. If u read the story he was stranded for three months and there is little edible plants in the area. Imagine how hard of a choice to either die and ur family never hear from u again, or eat ur dog and make it home to your loved ones. I have kids choice would be easy for me. Smart choices means survival.

Bugs, grubs, tree bark, edible plants, dew on leaves for "water", collecting rain, dig for worms & water. Sounds like this dude wasn't much of a survivalist. But one would never know what we would do unless we were in his predicament.

I think the whole thing is made up, probably no dog at all. What proof is there, he ate it?

I don't believe in anything I hear and only half of what I see.

But if the story is true, I hope you are right !

I would think that anyone planning a 3 month 'hike' in bear country should at least have the sense to arm himself.
I also understand this report is from Britain's version of the Inquirer...

My first thought too. Why would the dog have to chase off a bear if the man had a gun.
Hells bells, they both could have eat the bear for three months. It would have kept well frozen or dried.

A dog is a mans best friend. Not necessarily the same when it comes to whom is dogs best friend.

With the trial news outta London, about the phone bugging by Rupert Murdoch's media empire, one has the wonder if Fox News covered this story?......

I agree, even tree bark he could have eaten, and this dog saves his life. I hope it comes out later that this story is a hoax. He could have even survived on his own urine. BUGS, WORMS, ANYTHING !!!!

Wow, everyone here thinks they are Bear Grylls, lol
Eat tree bark, berries, bugs and drink your own urine. What a joke. Most people would starve in a week if they had to try to survive using the tips from survival shows.

Better than eating your dog, I would think.
