Gobble-gobble is one of God's creatures too, and
that's why I always have a 'gobble gobble' free Christmas.

Best wishes for Christmas back to you.

...I grew up on farm... we grew everything ourselves except flour, meal, sugar & coffee...
flour & meal still came from local mills.
I have a garden each year and grow vegetables, rhubarb, asparagus.
Pick blackberries, apples, pears, persimmons. Eat wild greens and mushrooms. And depend on local farmers for sweet corn, pork & beef.
But we're depending more each year on boughten produce and meat.
I just don't have the ambition I use too. The o'l ticker won't take it.
PROPS... yes I remember wondering if we would have to force my Daddy to slow down on the farm even after he retired from his job...he gracefully made the decision to cut back & then give up all the hard work...even let me take over the yard mowing...griping constantly about how rough I was on the mower...=)

they've been gone now 16/17 yrs & I always miss em SO much at Thanksgiving & Christmas...they loved the kids/grands/great grands visiting & Mama loved cooking for everybody...he passed away at age 88 & she was 80 when she passed away from surgery related blood clot 17 months later...

just_ola, sounds like we have a lot in common.
I love working the earth and reaping the harvest but it's hard work. I've done it all my life and tried to keep the traditions of my grandparents and parents by sharing the produce but you know now people just don't appreciate it like they use to. It's sad!
Example:
You pick'm and break'm and I'll pick'm up soon.
Well! I guess you know what I told them?
I really miss the holidays without Pop Pa & Mom Ma
and I can't even talk about my parents being gone.
Seems like every day I think of them more.

I always thot being the youngest of 9 & terribly spoiled that I would be devastated when I lost my parents...it did force me to grow up (Don't spoil your kids!!!) but I have always looked at it like this...they lived long blessed lives...worked hard all their life for everything...and it was time for their reward...but yeah the holidays are when I think of them most...cherish the memories...

and tonight on facebook a local news station posted about an 82 yr old man with alzheimers missing since 7 AM this morning ...5 mins later a very dear friend of mine that I use to teach with posted her dad was missing...and it is SO cold out!!! SO anyone that reads this please say a prayer for Mr. Hunter...

Buy "certified organic" turkey. "Free range" or "cage free" is not certified organic.

Would you eat a rat?
Squirrels belong to family Sciuridae of small or medium-size rodents.
Would You!
