Mine are the opposite. They aren't too bad for baths, but they don't like going into the lake.<quoted text>
That's awesome...Noble is a Golden Retriever/Chow/Shepherd mix, so he's a fuzzy bear...he'll jump in the lake/river without hesitation, but HATES baths!!! I tried taking him to the groomer one time & even stayed with him...I honestly thought he was going to have a mental meltdown :/ He would hide when he would see the big washtub, so now I just hold his collar & use the hose...he's better about that, but not much...lol ;)
This is the first year I've taken them on the lake (they are really good on the boat) and I've tried to get them used to going in the water, but they aren't super keen on the idea. Maybe over time. I walk them into it from shore just to expose them to the idea and slowly acclimate them too it ... unlike the person who I saw throw their dog into the lake from their boat ... it then proceeded to swim to shore and they had a heck of a time getting it off land, after that. We thought they were a bunch of idiots.
The last time I took my one boy, my son was walking him on the dock to the boat from the restaurant on the lake and my dog fell off the dock, nit the water, lol. I had to lift him out. Poor think was probably traumatized.
My one boy labradoodle, doesn't even want to leave our screened porch when it is raining, however. He must be part cat. He was doing a little whining while I gave him a bath, but he was calm and let me wash him.
