Seriously? I'd be thrilled if I came home and the tree was decorated.

Ha!! You ain't kidding.

I've got it down to me getting the fake tree from the garage to the living room.....having my 9-year old daughter put it all together, then I string the lights with her. I'm basically done decorating after that point. The wife and my three children handle the rest while I drink beer and curse at the neighbors.

Nah, stringing the lights is the worst....first you have to lay it out on the floor to make sure the string and all the bulbs still work BEFORE you put it on the tree!!!!!
Then comes stringing the 8' tree, not fun....but I do enjoy it if it's just me and the 9-year old, she's a worker bee just like me.

I think we have it down to as much of a simple science is possible; fake tree in the garage with the lights all still on it from last year, and several of the ornaments the kind which aren't breakable if they fall off also left on there. Biggest hassle is stringing lights on the house, the kids wanted done so, sorry, dad gets up there and does it. Well, unless it's too cold or icy! Wish we could afford to have one of those companies do it, they install your lights and then later come back and remove them for you. But that's way expensive. Hey, maybe that's what I should ask for, for Christmas!

Sounds like 'National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation'.

The only thing missing is Cousin Eddie pumping sewage out of the motor home into the storm drain..

I found the best way to hang the lights is to set the tree in the middle of the room in it's stand undecorated and no water in the reservoir.

Run two standard indoor extension cords from the nearest outlet to the tree end to end

Snake the cord up the trunk.

Tie the 3 plug end near the top of the tree.

Plug in the tree topper if it is electric.

Plug the first strand into the other outlet in the extension cord after checking for Knots, tangle, and dead bulbs

Pull the light string out away from the tree and walk around the tree hanging the string as you walk.

Work your way from the top to the bottom of the tree.

When you run out of light string, plug in another and continue until the tree is covered.

Repeat with the tinsel.

Remove the extra extension cord and tuck in the extra length of cord that is running up the trunk after the tree ins in the desired position.

Fill the tree stand with water, and finish decorating with ornaments
