We never chunked rocks at each other--too much danger of the little kids running and telling Mama. But we'd chunk dirt clods, crabapples, dirt dauber nests, and anything else that was chunkin' size.....

Remember sticks? They could be anything, a gun, a sword, a horse, a baseball bat.....

Give a couple kids a stick, a little bit of water (like a creek or a pond), access to "the woods" And you wouldn't see them for the rest of the day.

I suppose I get a little annoyed at the texting fad these days. It used to be, you just picked up your phone and called someone when you wanted to, I don't know,...talk?. The better half will text me, and it turns out being a hour (or better) conversation when I'm at work.

I'm usually guilty of playing along somewhat. But I'm also the one that ends up sending a her a text that says.. "screw this, I'm calling you!"

I admit surfing the internet is neat on my phone... and having cell phones is a good idea in general, but I'm sort of missing the old ways a little also.

I was discussing with MamaR recently childhood accidents. I mentioned that the last time I had a physical, the doc asked me about a particular scar on my chest.(not the Siamese Twin one, another one) ANYWAY, she said she didn't know anything about it. Well DUH, I cut myself on the side of an old metal fence, ya think I was gonna TELL her? I'd probably have had to come in and take a bath or something..... As I recall, it was more of a scrape, not even a real cut. Left a real nice scar though....About 4 inches long--like I was in a knife fight or something.

As far as the vehicles go--you could have used them for rocket ships, or submarines, or airplanes--LOTS of stuff.

Do kids even come equipped with an imagination any more?

The sibs and I used to get those bendable Gumby and Pokey toy figures all the time. Mom had to always throw them out when the copper wire in them started to poke through... the new ones are lousy by comparison. They don't bend nearly as good since they took out the wire.
