My grandparents had a double seat & single seat outhouse. Me and my sis would go together because we were afraid of falling down the hole into the poo. They had oil lanterns and old fashioned woodstove for cooking too. They didn't have electricity or indoor plumbing until the early 90's.

Back when that campaign was running, I cut out a small pic of Clara and put it over my face on my work ID badge.

Went for a couple weeks before anyone notice.

Yeah there was always a "you know, there was a kid that did that and lost his foot, his arm, cut off his head, broke his back," etc, etc, etc..... And we NEVER ran inside to get a bandaid every time we got a little cut. We were afraid that if we did, Mama would make us stay in for the rest of the afternoon....

We never chunked rocks at each other--too much danger of the little kids running and telling Mama. But we'd chunk dirt clods, crabapples, dirt dauber nests, and anything else that was chunkin' size.....

Remember sticks? They could be anything, a gun, a sword, a horse, a baseball bat.....

Give a couple kids a stick, a little bit of water (like a creek or a pond), access to "the woods" And you wouldn't see them for the rest of the day.

I suppose I get a little annoyed at the texting fad these days. It used to be, you just picked up your phone and called someone when you wanted to, I don't know,...talk?. The better half will text me, and it turns out being a hour (or better) conversation when I'm at work.

I'm usually guilty of playing along somewhat. But I'm also the one that ends up sending a her a text that says.. "screw this, I'm calling you!"

I admit surfing the internet is neat on my phone... and having cell phones is a good idea in general, but I'm sort of missing the old ways a little also.
