I love TV Dinners. Still have one every now and then.

More so because of ZZ Top.

Oh, do I have for you then.

I remember one Daffy Duck cartoon bit on Saturday morning...

Daffy was a detective investigating a crime that involved a hollywood female bombshell duck (duckess?)

Daffy: And then do you know what happened?!?
Duckess: Beats me.
Daffy: Madam, please! Business before pleasure!

Talk about a jaw dropping realization...

So wrong on so many levels.

It can be so different for each individual.
I don't know you very well, so not sure where to start.
Socially? Financially? Employment? Prejudice? Weather? Entertainment/Fun? Housing?
A safe statement is that there are a lot of extremes. Very poor to VERY rich- rub elbows with both. Very good (like religious) to very bad (lots of crystal meth). Far Left to Far Right (more left, but changing).
I grew up in a small college town in Oregon. Everyone was about the same- color, religion, values, economically. What a difference here!
It can be very hard for some to handle being a minority.
About 3 or 4 years ago, I would have said to read the topix Honolulu Forum, but it wouldn't help much now. It's been taken over by a handful of,,,,well, it's wouldn't be very helpful now.
Fishing, clean air and a relaxed atmosphere come to my mind when I think about that area but like I said I've never been there.

I don't know how long you've been on Topix, but have you ever heard of WIP (Writing in Paradise)?

She lived there somewhere and used to post here on Topix, she also wrote books or a column or something to that effect and like Skipper, she too passed on in 2008 and it was a big deal on Topix.

Here was a memorial thread that RiverSpirit a friend of mine made for her http://www.topix.com/forum/topstories/TGTPH90...

Here was a post from WIP, she was an exceptional poster http://www.topix.com/forum/blogs/TTHRLC4552F2...

Were you a little sister?
On that farm I'd go to, we were SO mean to the little sister (not mine, I was an only child). She was always telling on us getting us in trouble.
(she did have a 'Suzy Homemaker' oven- used a lightbulb for heat as I remember)
Yeah, You know Billy R, right? I had one of those ovens too--it was the Easy Bake Oven.

When our older son was about 6 (our daughter was 7) he was very generous in his letter to Santa. Dear Santa, Please give my sister a Easy Bake Oven, a Snoopy Snow Cone Machine, and a Barbie Ice Cream maker.

When we asked him about his sudden interest in gifts for his sister, he said "that way she can make the stuff and I get to eat it" LOL

I only remember the: Jesus white thread. Don't think I touched it though.

When I first came to Offbeat, didn't stay. Came back later.

But I do remember her. Not real well.

If you're very independent (like me), those things are very important. Sounds like you might like it a lot.
I have to get going (well, I don't have to). I'm going down to see if my favorite spot is open on the beach in my avatar and I'll set up a tent before the tourists come over on the boats from Maui. Then I'll come back up to town and get ready for fishing and camping for a few days. Camping is free for residents here.
I'm anxious to check those links. I started topix in 2008 in the Honolulu Forum, but don't remember her. Back then, there were a lot of high class people in the Honolulu one (not now!), I bet she wrote in there too.
See you laters-
