A cop tried four times to use a maneuver to stop a guy who was two times over the legal limit of intoxication! And, now an innocent person is dead.
These chases have to stop, the cops aren't capable of making smart decisions.

And maybe if the cops didn't chase him, he might have made it home and nobody would have been killed......

Absolutely, ifa, shoulda, woulda's don't count.
Kinda hard to reflect on things that haven't happened.

Drunk driving is a crime, what do police get paid for? Maybe he would have continued on and killed more then one .... if we are playing scenario's here.

Cops aren't capable of making smart decisions? Apparently, neither are people that decide to drive drunk.

" what do police get paid for?"

Back in the day before the Amerikan Sheeple became fully indoctrinated, the "folks" hired Police for "Public Safety".....that is what they are supposed to be paid for!

Today, Police are "Law Enforcement Agents", and when their poor choices result in death to those they are paid to "Protect and Serve", Sheeple like you give them a pass because somebody "Broke the Law".

Drunk Driving is stupid, and the punishment needs to be severe.

"Texting while driving" is as dangerous or more dangerous than drunk driving, and much more prevalent, but We the People are not protected from the 16-50 year old Females who Text while driving, and have ZERO skills driving in the 1st place.

A Police Officer who was "Protecting the Public" woulda/coulda followed the drunk to his next stop, backed off and called for a "trap", ignored the "suspected" drunk, and done a host of other things. BUT, the Cop is all about ENFORCING Laws, without concern for Public Safety.

That drunk has probably been driving drunk for a long time. Sadly, he probably got pretty good at it.

If We the People wanted to stop drunk driving, get rid of Parking Spaces at Bars!

How many Bars can you walk too?

Exactly!

We know that anyone parked outside a Bar, is inside consuming alcohol. We know that they drove to the Bar, and will be driving away from the Bar. EVERY Single person leaving a Bar can be assumed to be impaired.

Why doesn't the Public Safety Officer arrest everyone leaving the Bar?

Because it is not about Public Safety, it is about Law Enforcement, and Revenue Enhancement for Dependents with Government Jobs in the Law Enforcement Industries of Amerika!

Excuse me, I give no one a pass. An officer has to make decisions every day, right or wrong.
Maybe you should think about, with the attitude you are displaying, how you could handle those situations. And everyday is a new set of decisions that could be wrong or right.
Hmmm ... things to ponder.
Have a pleasant day making snap judgements and criticizing a job that you would never be able to handle.

Excuse me, but police chases have been controversial for decades. They are not allowed in many communities. And, with the record of the Minneapolis PD, it is a decision they need to change. You attack a poster who actually has some good ideas, while you and your 'buddies' blindly defend the police.

Mommy, Please save the Victim Language. If you are not smart enough to break down the Awful Truth, then best not to reply.

Stating the obvious;

" An officer has to make decisions every day, right or wrong"

Adds nothing to the issue of Citizens dying by the bad choices of Police Officers.

Stating your inferiority as a victim;

"Have a pleasant day making snap judgements and criticizing"

Only reveals that you got nothing to bring to the table but reactionary/defensive "Feelings".

(By the way, I have been married to a cop for 26 years! spare me your BS about what it means)_

What buddies?
Do you see someone else here?
I am stating that I could never handle the stress of that particular job, sounds like you couldn't either.
Do you think that the officer will not live with that guilt the rest of his life? Pretty steep consequence I'd say for anybody to handle.
It's hard for me to judge a person who is thrust into an unwanted situation.
