No wonder he shot the old man.Kids love to tease someone with a name like GAY,,,,,,say,?

It's a last name (parden pard)! Besides that don't give a kid a right to shoot his father!! Quit making excuses for him! A lot of kids have strange last names! I work in a high school! The kids don't pick on a person because of their last name, the kids just give them nicknames (that the person of approves of)! The comment about that he was tease because of his last name-It was way off base!(whose the dickhead now?)

Why in the hell did a 14 have a gun on him? What is up with that?

A 14 year old is dropped off by his mother and step father to visit his father and he has a gun on him and thusly shoots and kills his father.
And we are what...discussing names?

Wow!

That's the money question DC.

Maybe mom wanted him to shoot his old man.
Hopefully the police will follow up on that.

I see I come to play a word game and leave out words. I am good like that.

Thing is, Arctic, why would a woman sacrifice her own 14 year old son. She must be aware that children that age are being charged as adults these days.

Right you are, the police need to follow up on this. I know I would. Would be all over the mother and step father. On so many levels for so many reasons.

Once again, the question is ...why the son had a gun?

Fishy Friday!

Why would a mother sacrifice her son?

Great question. Only a sick one would.

Or it could be the step father...?

I couldn't read the article, my internet

But I'd love to know what the boy said when
he was arrested.

Yes, just the freak I was looking for.
What the hell is wrong with the folk up in Chicago shooting into 4th of July crowds that came for fireworks. Two young boys are now fighting for their lives.

And you...cumdrop come and say kill three times. By chance, were you looking into a mirror while saying that?

This is the article:

Dalton Gay is charged in the juvenile division of Johnson County District Court with first-degree murder in the death of his father, 46-year-old Darren Gay.

Darren Gay was killed Tuesday afternoon outside a western Shawnee business where his mother and stepfather had taken him for a scheduled visitation with his father, according to Shawnee police.

At Friday’s court appearance, Dalton was described as a good student with no prior legal troubles. But based on the seriousness of the allegations and the use of a weapon, Assistant District Attorney Don Hymer asked that Dalton remain in juvenile detention.

His mother asked that he be released while the case is pending.

“He will be OK at home,” said Karen Lindsay.“I love him.”

But Magistrate Judge Michael Farley said that because of the nature of the charges, Dalton should not be released at this time. He scheduled another court hearing for July 16.

The boy’s mother and stepfather were accompanied by a number of family members and friends at Friday’s court hearing. When asked for a comment after the hearing, they said they wanted to speak with Dalton’s attorney before releasing a statement.

“We just need our privacy,” a spokesman for the group said.“We don’t want to do anything to jeopardize the case.”

Johnson County prosecutors have not said whether they will seek to have Dalton tried as an adult.

Thanks for posting the article.

It's so damn sad. I have a girl that age
and trust me....she's Not an adult.

I understand why prosecutors are seeking
to try these juveniles as adults. Letting
violent crimes go unpunished is wrong.

I'm just not sure how I feel about it.
The brain is not fully mature until around 24
but the "age of reason" is around 7.

the thing that stands out for me in that article is this....

"Darren Gay was killed Tuesday afternoon outside a western Shawnee business where his mother and stepfather had taken him for a scheduled visitation with his father, according to Shawnee police."

Forced by law at the age of 16 to spend time with his father - and was it a supervised visitation

whats that about?

Yes...that's why I was wondering what the boy said.

The father may have been abusing him.

Guess should of added this:
A 14-year-old boy accused of fatally shooting his father was ordered by a judge Friday to remain in custody.

Either way, why would a 14 year boy have a gun.

Also in the court system, let us have a look see at this.
A 17 year old is a boy.(killed)
A 14 year old is an adult.(kills)

Doesn't work that way.

Where he got the gun Is really the question.
If the mother or step father gave it to him or
even just allowed him access to it then I think
they should be charged.

If they try him as an adult he will, more than
likely, get life w/o. For a 14 yr old that
sentence is horrible.

Omg.. I go to school with him. You people commenting know nothing! Dalton was severely abused at home. Better articles explain it. He was verbally abused by his dad, sometimes forced to sleep with his dad and his dads girlfriend in the same bed, and wanted to kill him self. Dalton has straight As, is great at sports and makes everyone laugh. He is nice to everyone and a great friend. You all need to understand the story better. And no his mom did not tell him to do it. Dalton couldn't take it anymore and was about to kill himself instead.

We're not against him sweetie.
Just the opposite. I was sure there would
be a story b/h his actions.
It's not typical for a 14 yr old boy, with
no prior behavioral problems (or psychological
problems) to do something like this.

He needs to tell his story.
He needs a good defense attorney to be sure
that the mitigating circumstances of his actions
are taken into account by the court.
