Full story: El Paso Times

Viagra and pornography are not staples on the government's food stamp list. But authorities say a Detroit store supplied them during a series of illegal deals.

I bet he people doing the wrong were U.S citizens since immigrants are not entitled to federal assistance programs. Who are we going to blame this time. Let's find out where this store was located at and who runs it. I doubt it was an illegal immigrant. HA, HA, HA, HA, HA, let us close the south border since all our problems arise from all immigrants.

Is this action a surprise to authorities? Get real and get a set of eyes and ears!
Probably will be blamed on Bush anyway; he knows more Spanish than Nobama knows of Swahili or Ubangi or other African language of his ancestry. That proves that Bush let the south of the border illegals into the country, doesn't it? And they faked the id to get the assistance, another thing Bush must have figured how to let them do.
Just following the logic of ACORN and others.

this has been going on for YEARS. This was'nt a problem when food-supplement programs were called COMMODITIES, wher eyou went and picked up your own FOOD (grade-A, damn GOOD food) at community distribution centers. But that was too simple, and it actually put some onus on hungry people to drag their asses to the specified location.

They should walk through our local Gualmarts and see how people are asking folks if they are paying with cash so they can trade use of their welfare for the cash. Go to Big Ocho and see how folks pay for high calorie sweet drinks and chips with their welfare cards and pay for the beer with cash (so they can see the game on their big screen TVs while their kids play on the Playstation or wii...yes, they have them all).

I don't understand, exactly. When my family was on foodstamps I ate Popeye spinach from the can. Granted, we DID have a calico vision (bought by a grandmother as a present), but beyond getting to occasionally play in the park adjacent to our public housing where my mom would often get her purse stolen, that was about our only "indulgence," and it was'nt for lack of my parents attempting to work (they usually did, in fact.) Now, I agree that the current situation sucks, people can abuse the system far too easily and whatnot and trade benefits for cash on the dollar, but how do you draw the correlation between Big Ocho and whatnot in the equation?

When you had an atmosphere of crime starting from the White House through the Congress, into state and local gevernments, this sets the example that stealing is all part of the game.

During the past eight years, dozens of politicians, mostly Republicans, let anything go from accepting pocket money to millions. So why should it be surprising that this corruption spread all through our society?

There use to be a time when people robbed banks. Now, banks rob people and this is acceptable in our society to a point where radio and tv talk shows defend this as Capitalism. Man this country is messed up when those that consider themselves the most loyal Americans are just puppets for the thieves.

Simply BRILLIANT...bring up the name Congressman Charlie Rangel (D), NY! Yep, all during the PAST EIGHT "YEARS". Also check out the Czars/cabinet of the
PAST EIGHT "MONTHS". Especially the ones who were shamed out, plus the ones who paid their taxes to be selected. Those bastards would still not have paid their taxes if they were not outed. Bush/Cheneys fault...hell, we'll be hearing this till 2012, at least. Then what excuse will THEY use.

Exactly. I remember eating big blocks of government cheese, beans, rice, oatmeal, cornbread, peanut butter honey, potatoes, ect. But now days, they have to have steak and Ore-Ida tater tots at $5.00 a bag. And even took the embarrasment away from using stamps by issuing a card as if they have an ATM account. Only truly hungry people will go get a box of food. the lazy must have a few choices. Pshaw.

I don't know about where you live but here in Arizona, they have their food stamps and their cash part on their "quest card". I have to stand in line behind these people that fill up on chips, cupcakes, fancy cereals, steaks, etc. Then when they are done getting their food items, we go on to their dog food, beer etc. It's disgusting how they eat. I wasn't raised on any government assistance nor did I raise my children that way but I at least understand why we have it. People do have misfortunes. When welfare was created in the late 50's early 60's, it was meant as a crutch to help you get back on your feet, not as a way of life.

We ate a lot of hamburger and mac and cheese, chip or cookies were for special occasions, like Sunday drives to grandma's! After health care they need to do something about welfare reform!

p.s. the ad said " if you have an erection lasting more than 4 hours, go see a doctor".

if you have an erection lasting more than 4 hours, "YOUR THE MAN".

Daily Horoscope for December 31

Aquarius

The more you want to control someone, or someone wants to control you, the more difficult life will be today. It's a Full Moon and a lunar eclipse, so the last thing you should do now is to act as though you own this person, or tell them what to do, because it will be an instant recipe for rebellion and trouble. Mars is retro in your house of significant others and open enemies after all. If you don't want to spoil the evening's celebrations you'll have to make compromises, and hope that this other person will do the same. Don't let the fuss stop you having a very happy New Year's Eve.
