Yes dry white wine has about 30 to 60 less calories per same unit of alcohol then beer, or as I call BPC ( Buzz Per Calories). It's because grape sugar is about 90% fermentable as a posed to malt which is about 70% depending on the mash temp. Since all the calories in grape juice come from sugar and the yeast turns them into alcohol, you are left with a no nonsense glass of buzz haha. The only thing that has less calories are clear none flavored spirits. They have about 8 to 10 less calories per unit, but I tend to pour a little heavy so I keep it to beer and wine haha.
All alcohol has basically the same calories per gram; however, in most drinks, alcohol isn't the only thing present. Different liquors are made from a variety of different things and have different concentrations of pure alcohol. Therefore, while alcohol itself always has seven calories per gram, different alcoholic beverages have differing calorie counts based on how concentrated the alcohol level is, what the liquor is made from and what types of mixers are used to make each drink.

Everclear has 226 calories per 1.5 oz and is 190 proof (95%) alcohol - that is high when you consider the caloric content.

Trying to find a low-caloric alcohol is like searching for a needle in a haystack - hence I stick to a lite pilsner.

Yep all of that is what goes into my buzz per calorie calculations. Everclear is basically grain vodka how it comes off the still before water is added. Yes 1.5 oz at 226 cal is high for a drink, but that is almost 2.5 units. 1.5 oz 40% alc, 5 oz 12% alc, 12 oz 5% alc.

40% alc 80 proof 1.5 oz vodka or gin 100cal= A+
12% alc 5 oz dry white wine 110 cal = A

Beer is another story. It all depends on the malt mash temp pre boil and the fermentability of the additives. Malt mashed under 140F gives it a higher amount of fermentables and a drier taste. Malt mashed above 155 is sweeter and has less fermentables. A datives are often 95 fermentable and give it more alcohol such as corn sugar. A craft beer is normally no higher then 30% additives. A macro beer will load that stuff in for a light cheap beer.

4.2% alc 12 oz super dry, light, gold, 95 cal= B+
5% alc 12 oz normal, golden, 150 cal= C
5% alc 12 oz brown ale, amber, 170cal=D
5% alc 12 oz milk stout, Christmas ale, barely wine, 200=F

Any cocktail mixed with any sugar like, cola, tonic, simple syrup, juice. All have over 300cal= FFFF

Just what I go by.

Oh man if I could eat what I wanted right now I'd be eating a giant bacon burger with wings on the side and 24oz glass of southern tier unearthly. 3 mouths on this diet, I think I am ready to pin up a picture of a burger.

You do have a choice.

After I had my (fake) heart attacks, I went on an exercise regime. Run in the morning, treadmill at noon and run in the evening - 6 days a week. I was burning like 1800 calories a day. If you came close to that, you theoretically could very well dine on McDonald's everyday of the week and still lose the weight.

I know - exercise.

Just a suggestion.

I bike 20 miles a day and that burns 750. I still insist on eating heathy stuff to get my protein up and my fiber so that I never have to feel hungry. I have biked up to 45 miles and burned 1700 calories, but it takes at least 2 hours. Also I like to lose 2 to 3.5LB a week. I could lighten up and lose 1LB a week, but I like to get it over with. The way it is I bike for an hour and lift stuff for 20 mins. It's also easy to get weak working out and replacing it with bad stuff. I gained it having a sloppy winter without playing hockey. I am looking forward to my usual maintain mode.

A great way to lose weight is not through set-ups, but push-backs. As in push back from the table.....

Very dry white wine. Just 3 more pounds to lose until I can go into maintain mode and justify a big glass of IPA. Needed to burn off the winter ale gut. No beer until I am under 170. It's been 3 months since I have cracked a cold one.
