Where did you read about the Taliban not wanting anything with them?

Three people get killed in a Boston bombing and the US reacts like this is 9-1-1 all over again. Meanwhile, shootings kill 18 people in US per day since Sandy Hook.

I surmise these two were loners - very similar to the DC snipers.
While imprisoned, Malvo wrote a number of erratic diatribes about what he termed "jihad" against the United States. "I have been accused on my mission. Allah knows I'm gonna suffer now", he wrote. Because his rants and drawings featured not only such figures as Osama Bin Laden and Saddam Hussein, but also characters from the film series The Matrix, these musings were dismissed as immaterial. Some investigators reportedly said they had all but eliminated terrorist ties or political ideologies as a motive. Nonetheless, in at least one of the ensuing murder trials, a Virginia court found Muhammad guilty of killing "pursuant to the direction or order" of terrorism.
Looking for you today is like looking for a needle in a haystack!

priorities are the same for all. just a larger task force employed in Boston . common sense dictates that

this was an attack on a mass not on individuals

should be applauded to get the bombers in less than a week... tremendous work

Where does the 90 percent figure come from? A recent gallop poll suggests that gun control in not a top priority.

According to numerous news reports, 90% of those polled, still wanted passage of this watered down bill.....and the politicians could'nt even satisfy them.....

I posted more than a half dozen in the only cowards need a gun thread.

Gallup also posted this poll this month:

Should the sale of firearms be more strict, less strict or kept as they are now?

58% polled said more strict.

If they were Muslims, they weren't very good ones - they were even kicked out of their neighborhood mosque. As for extremists, maybe - but again, they were US citizens. Even the Taliban didn't want anything to do with them. Chechnian rebels attack Russia, not the United States.
Just one last question - what country were they aiding? Not Chechya, nor any Muslim countries.
Treason is a wartime charge. We are not at war with any country.

Common sense as well as several polls tells us that 90% of we the people are in favor of enhanced background checks. Why wouldn't they be? What's to lose? Ninety percent of we the people of the US are NOT paranoid gun-nutters who believe that ANY legislation of guns WILL lead to confiscation. WE the people are too smart for that.
You nutters can create all the socks for Topix that you want but, you are only fooling yourselves when you think you have the numbers or the hearts and minds of the country. When sh!t like the recent vote on "gun safety" goes 'your way', it's only because NRA lobbyists have greased the palms of congressmen to keep making it easier for you paranoid nuts to buy their goods. It's all business. It isn't patriotism, love of country or freedom and only an idiot believes it's God's will. It's just money, chumps.
Why couldn't America fashion gun legislation the
way Australia did? In the 18 yrs prior to enacting
gun regulations Au had something like 13 mass
shootings.(Mass shooting being more than 4 ppl
hurt/killed).
Since those regulations in '97 they have had NO mass
shootings. Isn't that amazing?
Also (as a bonus) murder and suicide w/guns has dropped
60+%. Isn't that amazing?
If anyone wanted a study of "can it work" there it is.

It wouldn't work that well in the U.S. Not at first
anyway. This country has SO many guns.
But in time it could make a big difference.

Now.....how many ppl hate me for saying that? lol

I don't think anyone will hate you for citing stats favorable to your position. But you left out a WHOOOOOLE bunch of OTHER stats. Like the meteoric rise in crime that DOESN'T involve guns. Simple strong arm, assault, home invasions,burglary,ect...And what crime DOES involve a firearm the crooks find it easier to commit, since the LAW ABIDING are effectively disarmed.

I'd be inclined to believe the 58% one. I can't IMAGINE 90% of the country going stupid on a emotional whim at the same time. The 4%? Might be a figment somewhere.

polls can be manipulated and not really reflect the true facts and the actual numbers ..

EX you can ask of a southern poll do you like ice hokey.... or you can ask a northern crowd do you like water polo..

so polls can be deceiving

common sense should prevail and majority rule , not individual feelings

In 1998 Massachusetts passed what was then the toughest gun laws in the country. Since 1998 legal gun ownership in MA is down 85%. Between 1998 and 2011 gun related murder went up 53%, robbery with a firearm jumped about 21% and aggravated assaults increased by 27%.

Keep an eye on what happens in CT over the next 5 years and then tell me that tougher gun laws are the answer.
