My favorite sammich is one I make myself...Grilled Roast beef with pepper-jack cheese brushed with a lil' REAL butter on seeded Jewish rye bread. Add shredded lettuce and horseradish mayonnaise to finish it off.

My son and his friends beg me to make these for 'em. Here's a pic of it...

A Reuben is pretty damn good, if it's made right. It requires fresh and thickly-sliced pumpernickel, quality kraut and real thousand island sauce (not the low-fat crap).

On the other hand, a nice ham sammich on dark rye with swiss cheese is right up there, but again the ham has to be top grade; not tough, chewy, or fatty. Good Danish ham is a plus although it's pricey.

I may get a new smoker today, one of the first things I want to cook in it is to make pastrami, I will let you know how it comes out. Hot pastrami on rye with brown mustard and swiss cheese.

I tend to think that the pastrami will contain less fat than the corned beef. I have been putting some weight on lately;and,in all the wrong places. I wish it were on my breasts and buns;and, not you know where. Thanks.

I usually have a slice or two of swiss or American cheese on unseeded Rye with a slice of tomato, red onion and lettuce. I like Reuben sandwiches, too, but I skip the dressing. Sometimes I'll have tuna salad on toasted Rye bread or on a Martin's potato bun. During the Summer or for picnics we have beef barbecue, potato salad, macaroni salad or pasta salad. I never made pork barbecue, so I want to try that this year. I want to make the kind that's in it's own juice or broth, not the kind with a tomato based sauce, yuk.
