I remember where I was on 2 occasions in my life.

On 9/11 I got into my car, biz as usual, the radio djs were talking and cryng, and it caught my attention..
I sat in my car for 15 minutes at least listening to the horrific stories.. Drove to work, a 30 minute drive, crying.. and praying..
That morning in my office, was standstill, the staff, the patients, the doctors, and reps,, everyone coming together, crying and praying for the tragedy our nation was enduring... glued to the radio and television while we watched the attacks play out over and over.. and over, and over,,, and over ...!!
strangers holding hands, hugging... crying and comforting each other....
I remember thinking that day, of the evil in a mans heart, and praying, Come Lord Jesus...

The death of Elvis pales in comparison to what our nation faced that day..

Remembering today.....

I hadn't left for work yet and so I had the TV on as usual. I remember how I stopped and turned around to see what the news was saying, wondering why they sounded so frantic. how I sat down on the chair and felt overwhelmed by all of it, and yet somehow it still didn't seem real to me. by the time I got to work that day it definitely felt real since a guy I worked with had a son who lived in that area, I remember him dialing the phone over and over trying to reach him. i remember how long the day felt, and the day after and the way everything changed in an instant..

i think of all of what was lost that day and all of the good things that came out of it too. for one day at least, we were a nature that held on to each other, and came together as a family of people should and do...

Living in the Greater Boston area, where two(2) of the planes originated from, I can not help but to harken back to 9/11/01.

I remember how absolutely stunning the weather was that Tuesday morning...and how such a stunning day could be shattered by this unspeakable act of terror.

One of the pilots on the plane live one town over, and many of the passengers on the two planes were living very close by in picturesque,Norman Rockwell like communities...communities which were devastated and heart broken by this senseless loss of family and friends..

To this day..though we New Englanders tend to be stoic and have our heads down when we walk..I try my best to have my head up and not to not look glum or disinterested as people pass by..and smile and say hello if the right moment presents itself.

If 9/11/01 taught me nothing else..you never know if your small token or gesture of good will and kindness may be that person's last treasured earthly rememberance..

Got a call at work from the big guy. He said turn the tv on now, we're under attack. Didn't really believe him but turned on the tv and could not believe my eyes. The boss and I watched for what seemed like an endless amount of time before we decided to close shop & go home to our loved ones just in case. If they hit the city, we're only 160 miles away, who knew who or what was next. Went home and wept, prayed and called everyone I knew to make sure they were ok. Felt like being in a horro movie.

Next town over a mother of 4 and soon to be divorced wife of a local business man was kidnapped/disappered without a trace. She has yet to be found.

Hurts the heart to think of such tragedies.

I was working at a cell phone call center that day. My shift began at 6:00 a.m. One of my friends came in at 9:00 and told us a plane had hit one of the towers of the World Trade Center. At that time, everyone thought it was just a tragic accident. I went on break to check out the news on one of the televisions in the break room. Then the 2nd plane hit. We all just stared in disbelief!
At the call center, we took calls from Boston and upstate New York. I was in the New York market. The phones went silent. No calls were coming in.
When I left work at 3:00, I just drove around. I didn't want to go home.
I lived in Wichita Falls, TX at the time, just outside of Sheppard AFB. I went to my favorite bar and it was packed. We all just hugged, cried, felt lost. Karaoke was that night and every song was about America. Everyone just raised their drinks, held hands and sang along.
God bless America!
