This was my mother's daycare that flooded, and this incident has thrown our family life into turmoil. Not only has my mother been an emotional wreck, but she has been unable to spend time with her family, which includes a seven year old daughter who doesn't understand what is going on. In addition the daycare was our family's main source of income, and because of this incident, we have had to pour money that was being saved for Christmas into repairs. It is extremely depressing to watch my family sliding into potential financial troubles in order to repair a problem that the City of Weatherford has caused and could easily pay for.

After the second flood work crews noticed a permanent obstruction and replaced the 8-inch line with a 12-inch one.

The City seems to be as most are,

not going to admit any fault,

Your next step might need to contact a Lawyer,

It is always a nightmare from hell to take on City Hall......

there are news shows such as dateline that can get results also

Too bad they could not find another temporary set up until the repairs were made.I would sue the city since this is a city problem and nothing through the fault of your mom. Just get a good attorney. Dont despair, when one door closes another opens. Things will turn around before the end of the year. Just a feeling. Could also be a few good samaritin's will pitch in.

We actually have an attorney and are taking action. I know for a fact that some other cities have paid for the damages in similar situations; Weatherford is just choosing to be difficult, to put it nicely.

i am one of mrs.peck's employee's i have only been working here for about four months but i'm a good friend to her son so i have known the family for a while! i'm a 19 year old who is putting herself through college paying for her car and insurance and all of that good stuff! i was without a job for 2 weeks not knowing if i was going to be able to pay my bills! all because a city did not want to pay for the cost of damage they caused! my boss payed all of the employees around what thay would have made for that two weeks out of her own pocket! that was money that she could have put towards her sons college. so right now all i can say is... i'm someone who was so proud of her city..i would never want to be anywhere else..but right now i'm very ashamed to be from Weatherford .. because if thay dont care avout 50 plus children getting hurt why would they care about me? so mrs.peck good luck with everything!!

I am Mrs. Peck' sister, i have been working here the middle of august 1997 till now. I love working for her and i also love working with the kids. I have two kids of my own and live by myself with them. It upset me knowing that i could not work beacause of what the city did to our school and they not wanting to help out the damages they did to the school. It hurts me seeing my sister a wreck and stress out trying to do her best for all the teacher and the parents. I really think the city should pay there part that they did. I just want the school back to normal and i want to see my sister happy and not stressing out about the school.

I am another one of mrs. peck employee's, i moved here from San Angleo. I been working here for eleven months, and i love working for mrs. peck and the children. I have four children and the fourth one is a two month baby. I have to try to support me and the kids, i'm divorced so i have to try to pay the bills with what i have. Knowing that we were out for two weeks i did not know if i was going to get paid. When i found out that mrs peck paid us out of her own pocket i was very upset that is her money she needs to keep for her family. The city messed up they should pay for all the damages and stress that they cause everyone. We just want to see mrs peck back to herself. We all love her she is doing a very good job on everything.

I am Mrs. Peck's son as well as an employee of the daycare, and seeing what this flood has done to my mom not only as an employer but as a mother has been very hard. Closing down the school for 2 weeks not only hurt our family financially, but emotionally as well. My mother has been an emotional wreck for the past month. This daycare was our main source of income, and closing it down for a month was a major blow. Not only the lost income, but the fact that she paid all of her employees out of her own pocket has made it hard on us as a family. The fact that the city caused the problem and are not willing to work with her on getting her at least some money is ridiculous.

I am the mother of a handicapped child who has been at the daycare for 8 years now. 8 years ago when I was looking for a daycare I could not find one that wanted to take on the challenges associated with caring for a severly disabled child, as my daughter is. But when I talked to Kathy Peck about my daughter she never batted an eye and The Academy took her in and they have loved her and cared for her and, I'm sure, been inconvenienced by her for the last 8 years. I am so thankful for them because during a large portion of the 8 years I was a single mother. I most definately didn't have the option to not work and now that I'm married I still don't. So I don't know what I would have done if The Academy hadn't been there all those years so I could work. I have seen Mrs. Peck and her family put their lives into the daycare for years now and I would hate to think that with one weekend of flooding that it might possibly be such a financial burden for them to try and overcome that the daycare might have to close down. That would be so tragic and unfair. I hope the City of Weatherford will step up and take responsibility for something that is so obviously their fault and not try to break this family.

Has the city paid for this?

Please give us an update.

Thank you.

There is legal precedence for a city NOT being liable for an act of God (heavy rainfall). Live with it. Any business that can't handle calling Blackmon-Mooring to clean up is not capitalized enough to be feasible.
