Go run some more.

Now why would I run and post at the same time??? That's a bit dumb.

I like being present when I work out... Not flip through magazines and watch the tube.

And if you really have a doctrine in kinesiology than I'm very surprised at your reaction....

You of all people know exactly what it is I'm trying to say here.

I've worked along side physiotherapist, kinesiologist and certified trainers and I've never encountered an attitude such as yours.

And you would also know the old cliche that a 'workout buddy' is always the best support.

By calling me 'arrogant' because I could help someone and cheer them on for all their hard work... Is a bit strange!!!

And for the most part people don't have that kind of emotional support at home or within their social circle.

I dunno.... We are clearly on two opposite sides of the spectrum.

But to each is own...

Dude, this is the internet - everybody has a doctorate in kinesiology.

Like I said - there is nothing that you posted on here that you can't Google off the internet in 3 minutes.

This is Offbeat - nobody believes anything of what you post here.

Too bad your mother wasn't an Offbeat member, huh?
You know, Milwaukee69, I tried when I lived in her town to get her to take walks. I tried when she came to visit to get her to stop eating and walk. We all tried to get her to stop smoking and eat better.

She had an aneurysm the size of a fist next to her heart, diabetes and bad arteritis. After her stroke she managed to break her hip which could not be repaired, and the doctor was afraid to do surgery due to the aneurysm.

I read that line and thought, indeed, she should of had someone like that one around. But...she was a strong minded women and would not have listened.

Is tough to watch someone you love go down like my mom did. One can only learn from this lesson and try to do right by their own children. I manage to fail miserably at it.. As like my mother and her parents, I don't do doctors very well and I give healthy half a chance.

My children go to the doctor and do take care of themselves. Guess my Uncle was right....would take a few generations in this country to fix stubborn.( I am second generation)

So much for proud bullheaded Romanians, huh?

Truth be told, I think all of us have had close relatives that have gone way too young. My grandfather did that to himself - a kind of slow suicide if you will.

Sorry for your loss.

Aawww DC... I feel for you. But you can't blame yourself. You tried!

We are first and foremost accountable for ourselves.

We can only help ourselves and help those who really want it.

My comment about having 'someone like me' was a generalized statement.
You did just what anyone would do. You tried to help....!

And to be honest hon what you had gone through was so much more. Those were her choices though. And she probably knew in her heart everything you were trying to do for her was right.

It's just a hard thing to watch. And feeling helpless. And I feel for you.

My grandmother was obese when she found out she had diabetes. She starting eating better, playing golf and walking and went from a size 22 to a size 8. She was 70 at the time. She lived until she was 87. I promised her when she was dying of cancer, that I would start eating better and walking. I have lost 40 lbs so far and WILL lose more this year. I'm not sure how much exactly, but I am eating more healthy foods and walking more. I even get on my elliptical from time to time! LOL!
My point is, anyone can do it, if I can!

I had a health scare about 4-5 years ago.....
I lost about 35 lbs through diet and exercise.
I now feel great.....I actually feel healthy.
It's amazing the negative effects of eating unhealthy food can do to a body. I try NOT to eat anything that comes from a cow (other than skim milk)......and I run 2 or 3 times a week now. If I can do it, so can you.

Peace!
