Some of us seem to be a bit caught up in all of the emotion, politics, spin on this topic. As a parent, I wouldn't "trade" any of my kids for $1 Million. Am I lucky and, IMHO, are they extraordinary kids? Yes!
Are his Mom and Dad in the running for "Parents of the Year." Perhaps not. Was he one of the greatest kids ever? Maybe not. So how deeply do we discount the value of a human life, if they've been "bad?"
How many parents would "trade" a kid for $1 Million? He died and not by natural causes. It appears the HOA's counsel and insurer agreed that the way he died could be perceived by others to have been "wrongful."
Some of us decide, nearly daily, whether or not to litigate. We decide, based on the facts at hand, the applicable law, the perceived probability of winning the proposed litigation. The HOA did that here.
Dislike that they decided here settle this. However, almost certainly the HOA's counsel strongly advised them to do so. Whether or not Mom and Dad were bad parents probably didn't factor much in their advice.

I just offered some insight on how the R W works, greybox! It all boils down to the math. It's a probability thing. If you don't like how the R W process works, I'd suggest that you press for tort reform.

Scumbags? So you know Mom and Dad and/or the HOA Board?:( How do you think you'd personally score on that 1 - 100 scumbag scale? You might want to drop that rock and step back from your glass house. LOL

I don't use/abuse DRUGS, how's that for a start, ma'am?

The "good kid" Trayvon tested positive for THC in his system.

Face it, druggies (liberals) are LOSERS.

Excuse me, THC? Is that marijuana? Druggie LOSERS? What, they deserve to be shot down when the man could have walked back into his house (prepared to protect own home with his gun) instead of track the kid with intent to shoot him?
For once, Trash. The high on drugs KID attacked HIM. Stop buying into the lib-hype BS and let the courts decide, K?

An observant guy might have noticed I didn't defend the deceased, his habits, or drug use. I just explained how this decision was almost certainly reached.

I also didn't defend the HOA Board. Their insurer could've told them enabling an obviously-overzealous PD-wannabe was high-risk, probably expensive behavior.

It's not ma'am. You don't use/abuse DRUGS? Good for you! I don't either. Do you take prescription meds? How high are your alcohol consumption levels?

As I explained above, use/abuse of DRUGS by the deceased, like it or hate it, isn't part of the math. THC / MJ use by the deceased also isn't part of it.

I don't expect you to answer the questions. If you did, I'd probably not believe you. Many who lack conviction to post registered here are...scumbags? LOL

Ever heard of DUI???? Of course DRUGS are a factor in this! If the guy is hopped up on something and feels invincible, then it's a definite factor. Or are you really that clueless?

Are you feeling superior or intimidating calling others names as childish as that? That's not the way I read it and I still have questions about the OJ case as well. You don't care to discuss like adults, then fine. No need to get catty is there?

You didn't address my comment whatsoever and it's obvious your intent this evening, so I'll just let you get in one last word and hopefully we can consider that the end of this conversation? Thanks

Hopped up on MJ? You're kidding, right? Reportedly MJ makes folks mellow, paranoid and sleepy! So the chances of the kid being "hopped up on M J and feeling invincible" are ~ 0% Try doing some research before you post here!

What no one has seemed to address is, if Martin was so scared, why didn't he call 911? All of the topix legal experts keep accusing Zimmerman of taking the law into his own hands. Hell, Zimmerman is the only one to do the right thing by calling 911.

When you are young, you don't always consider the cops. Zimmerman called and what was he told? He sure did ignore the advice he was given and then he continued to pursue the kid when IMHO, he didn't have to and if he got his azzz slammed for doing so? Only some believe it wasn't tragic.

Hope you are well noogard.:)

Good morning Trish. How have you been?

I'm not condemning Martin. I wasn't there, and only know what the media reports.

However, it seems to me that people are so quick to condemn Zimmerman. Perhaps Martin should've thought instead of attack?
