Never had an accident or got a ticket. I'm not as sharp as I used to be and my old eye's are not so good anymore. I don't think I would keep that safety record. So the last time to renew I let it lapse and got an ID card instead.
That's going to happen to all of us drivers one day. My aunt gave up driving when she was in her late 60s or early 70s. She said she wasn't having any problems driving at that time, but while her mind was still sharp and able to know the difference between good and bad driving, she thought it best to quit at that point. She said she was terrified at the thought that her better judgement and reflexes would begin to diminish or fail without her being aware of it. She was terrified that she would might one day cause an accident. That may be considered paranoid by many, but some people feel that when they reach a certain age, rather then risk any harm to others and themselves, they feel more at ease giving up the privilege of driving.

For a Greater-Bostonian, my driving style would considered courteous...to a fault. I slow down when I see a yellow light..I use my turn signal changing lanes..I allow fellow drivers to gain access to the expressway..I stop for pedestrians on the crosswalk

One of these days...these actions may get me into serious trouble on the roads of Masssachusetts...;) LOL!!
