Pot found in 4-year-old's candy box

Full story: WTHI Terre Haute

A 4-year-old student brought a box of chocolates to share with friends, but when a teacher opened the box to inspect the candy before it was distributed, she found marijuana inside, officers said.

"I'm happy they found it. It would have been tragic if the kids ate the marijuana. There's no telling what it does to the body," said Gerald Ponce, who's daughter also attends Gorman Elementary.

This is an ignorant statement based around nothing and fear.

Everyone knows what MJ does to the body. Nothing of any more significance than alcohol.

I'm glad the Ottawa County Drug Task Force didn't find out first and shoot the little girl.

Except it was young children. Could have been a seriously bad situation. The parents, I'm sure, hid it in the box.

Now that's what I call a Pot of Gold!!!!!!!!!!
I don't think anyone has ever died from pot - c'mon people. 4 year olds already act like they're high and drunk half the time - you wouldn't be able to tell the difference.

Maybe if they had hidden it in the vegetables rather than in the candy box this could have been avoided.

Judging by other forum replies I'm sure she would have "had it coming"

I feel aweful about that child. Wheres the mother that should be watching over her childs things? The pot in and of itself is moot, but now we have a 4 yo, innocent, thrust into this media event, and I'm sure not understanding why.....Glossing over the effects of pot because you smoke it isn't the answer incidently, think about the little girl.

lol. that's pretty funny. I'm sure even lil kids know the difference between chocolate and something that looks and smells like lawn clippings. I don't see any lil kid eating weed by choice, maybe if it was cooked into the chocolates, like those special brownies. Jeezus, I can't even get my kid to eat spinach.

It was a blessing in disguise.....if the parents use it in their own home that is one thing, but to leave it laying around and not even know what the child was taking to school shows what kind of supervision is in this home. I hope the child is removed and cared for by someone who gives a damn about more than themselves.

At least everyone is ok. If it's the parents first time with the law all they will get is a slap on the wrist. Like size matters said it just looks like grass and kids no better than to eat grass.

Have you tried baking the spinach into brownies? Or cookies?

The mom probably knocked up four years ago and didn't believe in abortion. She is only one of MILLIONS of irresponsible parents. Feel sad all you want but there will always be people who have no business "raising" children. That's just how it is.
