Toilet brushes make excellent back scratchers!

I have given a mop bucket full of cleaning supplies for both graduation and wedding gifts.

I figure cleaning supplies are expensive and for people just starting out; it is nice to have the basics. I usually put a gift card with it for the purchase of a broom and mop.

I fix it up all pretty with ribbons and do not skimp on products, buying the name brand supplies.

Am I that far off???

But the real question is; did she provide brand name cleaners or some 2lnd rate product that requires using half of the container to remove the skid marks?

Yes, but it was the teacher who wove the gift baskets by hand at her own day program, so it's not like the gift toilet brush should be taken as an insult directed at the special ed students.

I don't think she should be fired for this, that seems harsh. She could be a good teacher. I guess she just believes in being clean.

Surprised no one caught the seriousness of this b.s.

They are already in a special school to teach LIFE SKILLS

"Felder is a teacher in the district Life Skills Center program where students with cognitive disabilities are taught skills such as cooking and cleaning. Kingsbury said her daughter was puzzled by the gift of a toilet brush and cleanser, and when her daughter asked Felder why she had given it, Felder told her that she would need the tools to scrub toilets in the future."

The MOM shows her dependent that IF they just complain A LOT they don't have to to clean the toilet.
Has been in the system for 6 yrs & this is here first complaint? about a FREE gift. Bad joke. I read a lot of input about schools ,students, teachers & I am starting to understand the general complaints of "old" Americans about how & why we really are turning into a bunch of whining wimps.

I received a shock this evening. I went to City Council since I had something I wanted to say. So I put my name on the sign-in sheet and waited until it was time for public comments. I had to wait for the second time since I was at the bottom of the list.

Anyways, as I observed the meeting, someone complained about new sidewalks. At first, I thought that was totally out of line. There were children injured and some killed last year. A council member said he fought for quite a while to get new sidewalks in places, especially near schools and parks. So just like I, the council member was stunned. But the real objections were where they were placed, nobody was asked for their input, and the notion that the money could have been better spent. They put the sidewalks near the park where some kids were killed by a drunk driver, but on the OPPOSITE side of the street from the park, meaning that kids would have to cross. But that was mostly a retirement community, and very few kids from the neighborhood go there.

So yes, there are times when no matter what you give people or do for them, they will be angry.

Yes kind of akin to "people" complaining about food they receive from a food bank!

Wait until they start suing because they don't serve a particular type of food. And I don't just mean just over veganism or religious grounds, though that is where the suits would probably start.

This mother needs to teach her child respect and gratitude instead of entitlement and poor manners. So a person is challenged. Mentally challenged people can be very happy and productive just like someone not considered to have a handicap. We are products of our experiences, environment and beliefs.
I own a very successful business. And guess what? I scrub the toilets when needed. And I have a staff of 20. It's not glamorous and certainly not a highlight of my day. But I do it because it's part of life.
My point is that things need to be done. Stop teaching people to be lazy and entitled, mother of the year. Why would you wreck a person's career over a toilet brush? I mean my gosh! Take away a livelihood and hard work to become a teacher?! This mother should be publicly shamed for being ungrateful. America was built with so much more than this, people. Grow up lady and thank this teacher for working with your child to prepare for life...handicap or no handicap.

I have a niece with Cerebral Palsy, no use of her legs and very limited use of her arms, yet she strove to graduate H.S., a toilet brush and cleanser as a gift from her teacher would be felt one of two ways, a funny ha ha, or a not so funny insult. Its not a matter of entitlement in all cases, she didn't choose to be the way she is anymore than you choose to be a pompous azz!

Kinda like giving the blind a book to read or the deaf a music CD as a graduating gift.
