My bro learned to take his accident with a grain of salt. You have to have a bit of humor when you get up out of bed and forget that you don't have your prosthesis on and go to stand up ..... crash and oops!
He also refused to use a handicap tag, works in heating and air, drives a stick, volunteers at a pet rescue center, and still finds time to take his sailboat out.
I think he is happiest out at sea. He doesn't need his leg so much and takes it off .... it's his peaceful place. He plans to retire on his boat in the ocean leaving this life behind.

We do have an airport....Not huge by any meens, but big enough to land a Bombardierear jet 85: in a cross wind....without slamming into the mountains or the Bear River.....
Lol...my mistake!!!

I guess we were talking about airports, not airfields.

My bad.

Afghanistan doesn't have any government thugs - just thuggish police.
Like I said - when I travel, and I travel a lot, I abide by the rules, plain and simple. I've found that when you play by the rules, things run much smoother. I've followed plenty of wheelchair-bound folks through security - they are always treated with respect, regardless of whether they are military or civilian. I just personally don't see it. If it weren't for so many ex-military shooting up places nowadays, there wouldn't be so much paranoia.
As a paying passenger, I demand that everyone on each and every one of my flights go through the same security checks as I do - I kind of feel safer that way. Security checks are just another part of traveling - something I would guess not everyone gets to experience.
What does the Afgan police have to do with this conversation.
The procedures that they use to make you safe at the airport are not applied equally and are not really designed to make your flight safer, they are implemented after an incident to make people feel safer, so that they will comply like sheep.
Tell me, if I have a leather belt with a large buckle on it, could that not be used as a weapon once on board. Could I not use my heavy boots as a weapon, to throw at someone once on board. Could I not use my pen as a weapon to stab someone. Could I not use my laptop as a bludgeon.
Making everyone take off their shoes do not make the flight any safer, it is just another feel good exercise in power by the government.

I'd take my chances against you with your belt or laptop - so the answer would be no. However, if I am unarmed and you have a knife, gun or grenade - then the balance would lean in your favor - but then again, I would have a knife, gun or grenade too.

And if you want to talk about weapons - I once put someone's eye out with a bag of those peanuts they give you. Another time I cut a guy's head off with a Sky Mall magazine. I once suffocated the guy in front of me with an air sickness bag.

Oh yeah - I know weapons.

Personaly I think many of the TSA agents are mental and for some reaso the Government likes putting these people in a place where they have some power.
Not only do they think things through, they don't think at all.
Making children scream because a stranger touched them. Patting people with physical issues and having bags that can cause embarassment, Seniors who are made to remove shoes and not have a place to sit or help to get them back on. To many stories and to many mess ups because NO ONE THINKS.
TSA has not made any thing better for any one. TSA has caused more problems and slows every one up for no reason.
It's proven if you want to get things past the scanners and TSA agents you can. So why have them???

Yeah, give up flying. What if I need to go to Hawaii or Europe for an emergency meeting, or a funeral. That's okay, just allow the government thugs to abuse you and intimidate you so that the weak minded will think that the nanny state cares enough about you to put armed thugs at the airport to "protect" you. Heaven forbid I should bring a pair of nail clippers on a flight, that would be a weapon of mass destruction. I might take that snow globe souvenir and make a molotov cocktail out of it. In the mean time, to protect the masses and pad the government coffers. Lets take a look at some of the abuses...oh excuse me, "alleged" abuses of the TSA.

But like I said - if something happened on a plane that you were flying on, what would your family do? Sue the government?

How do you propose a change?

How do you propose we keep those wackos off our planes?

How do you ensure the safety of yourself, me and the rest of the 25 million people that fly each day?

You've listed a half a dozen examples - out of how many years, flights and people?

Finding fault with anything that is government-related just because your party let you down in the last election is kinda' counter-productive, IMO.

Btw - you can float a boat to Hawaii - I did it with 3,500 individuals - six times.

I dont know and don't care what you guys are talking about when I go back to Australia I'm taking a boat that stops off 3 days in Hawaii and then goes to New Zealand "Aotearoa" for a week.
Might just buy some property there and move permanently.

BTW, boats to Hawaii take approx 3 days. That plus the wait to get a charter will result in missing the funeral. NG, no good.
There were more than a half dozen examples, those were just the sites with multiple examples of groping, molesting, denigration, intimidation, theft, abuse of position, humiliation and egregious and criminal behavior. The American flying public is no safer now than before 9/11, we are just made to submit to arbitrary behaviors enacted well after the fact. The TSA and Homeland security are reactive, not proactive.
BTW, it also has ZERO to do with who I did or did not vote for. It has to do with both parties being accessories to criminal behavior perpetrated on the American people. It has to do with adding more bureaucracy and financial burden on the all ready over burdened public, for no benefit to the public. It has to do with both parties acting on the belief that only those in power know what is right and good for the country. it has to do with the false sense of security that the government is foisting on the American public. It has to do with the inability of those in power to accept limitations, even the ones imposed by our founding documents.

just-how-worthless "OUR" =current= government really is. Stop and consider all the "GOOD" they've done in the last 20 years ... YEW! that's

So I take it your proposal is just to shitcan the system and let the chips fall as they may, eh?

Oh, and one last thing - how many terrorists have flown planes into large buildings in the US since we revamped the TSA system?
