Have you ever played HALO? It's a video game based loosely on the Ring World premise. Great game and beautiful graphics for its time.

I also loved Harry Harrison's Stainless Steel rat series and his Deathworld triliogy and I've played Halo 1 - 4. I also loved:

Frederik Pohl's Gateway series.

Grant Naylor's Red Dwarf series (Red Dwarf, Better Than Life, Backwards).

Edgar Rice Burroughs' Mars series.

Ben Bova's Grand Tour series (Mars, Mercury, Saturn, Titan...) and his The Asteroid Series (The Precipice, The Rock Rats, The Silent War, The Aftermath).

Issac Asimov's Robot series.

Sounds like we were cut from the same cloth as far as reading goes. All of these are great books. I still have a letter tucked away here somewhere from when I was 14, that Ben Bova had sent me when he was editor of Analog magazine..

I often wondered what kind of look I'd get if I went into a bar and ordered a Pan Galactic Gargle Blaster....

I was looking at my library today, and I can't believe I forgot one of my favorites from childhood--Lousia May Alcott's Little Women series.

Revelation Space - Alastair Reynolds

Black Company - Glen Cook

Book of the New Sun - Gene Wolfe (some consider this to be one big book instead of a series)
