This is the worst most disgusting website I have ever seen! It allows teenage bullying and slander to minors. I can not believe that there has not been a law suit against it. Its going to take a teenagers life soon.

Tell me more about this, whats going on? You are right, the bullying and slander going on on Topix.com is wrong.

When is Topix going to take measures to stop this, Chris? This woman is saying a child's life is in danger. Does Topix have an investigative department? they should look into this.

I also have a couple of questions on your article, Chris:

"Given that people want to reserve the ability to keep their identities", is it them or is it Topix who wants to enable them to keep hidden identies? this goes both ways. As you know, this does bullies a huge favor.

"We’re excited to see what Facebook is going to do with the Open Social Graph, and think that adding a connection to our millions of local comments is a great chunk of local content to give people on Facebook."

The problem with this is that so many of your comments are troll comments or hostile or racist disinformation comments, why in the world would Facebook need or want them? I am pleased you are admitting they are Topix content, they are, but am appalled when I know exactly what that content is. Bullying teenagers, for instance?

How about less bad behavior on Topix? A whole lot less.

We're you bullied as a little boy, Chris Tolles? Is that why you allow bully-trolls on your OWN thread?

That is strange to me that the CEO of a huge corporation, would allow bully-trolls on his thread. It must mean he sanctifies their behavior.

The term "Web 2.0" was coined in 1999 by Darcy DiNucci. In her article, "Fragmented Future," DiNucci writes:[5]

The Web we know now, which loads into a browser window in essentially static screenfulls, is only an embryo of the Web to come. The first glimmerings of Web 2.0 are beginning to appear, and we are just starting to see how that embryo might develop. The Web will be understood not as screenfulls of text and graphics but as a transport mechanism, the ether through which interactivity happens. It will [...] appear on your computer screen,[...] on your TV set [...] your car dashboard [...] your cell phone [...] hand-held game machines [...] maybe even your microwave oven.

Not so strange. I posted the following on another thread a little while ago. I'm amazed it's still up. Perhaps he just hasn't seen it yet.

"I was not stupid like some to post my real name. I have even said on these posts that AVA stands for something."
"TD has admitted it was a mistake to post his name as YOUR friend stalked him and still does now pretend your computer is fixed"
5/20/2010
I'm curious as to why it's a mistake to post with your own name. Why is being honest a mistake? People can follow you around these forums no matter WHAT name you use, if you use it for more than one post! That just doesn't make ANY sense. Sam uses a bazillion different names and yet we know it's him just by the way he uses certain words. I use my own name because I'm too stupid to remember a bunch of different names and who I'm trying to be in response to what post. I don't have the time, the inclination or the patience to be dishonest in anything I do. And that includes posting on these forums. If people want to attack me for being honest and calling things like I seem them, so be it. But I will tell you all one thing:
What Wild Irish Rose said about people not liking when the truth is told about them is absolutely correct! The Topix people don't like be called out on their breaches of their own Terms of Service, and they really enjoy playing all of us for fools. We've ALL been taken in by Chris Tolles and his employees' BS. This is just a money maker for him, he doesn't give a rat's ass about ANY one of us or who gets slandered, all he's looking at is the almighty dollar. He leaves up controversial posts in order to generate more revenue. The Terms of Service thing is just to make it look like he has a sense of decency. But it's been proven time and again that he doesn't care about anyone or anything but himself and his money. I'm all for freedom of speech, but when it's at someone else's expense or it fans the fires of racism, it's WRONG. And now I'll probably get banned for posting this, and this post will get taken down, but I hope enough people see it before that happens. Just in case, though, I'm going to copy and paste it into a Word file that I have that has a lot of other posts that are examples of the crap that goes on in these forums. I'm going to mail a copy to the AG of this state, and save it for any others who want it as well.

This thread has been, and is being, twittered to the world and so if they ban someone or take it down, I have saved screen shots and the world will know it.

"I'm curious as to why it's a mistake to post with your own name."

Exactly, LynneB, why IS being honest a mistake? what ever happened to accountability for what you say? no wonder these Topix trolls get away with murder.

"The Topix people don't like be called out on their breaches of their own Terms of Service, and they really enjoy playing all of us for fools."

No they don't, they try and hide this. But the truth is, you cannot get things removed from Topix, they do this intentionally, to further your pain. I have had 16 attack forums built by Topix trolls to harass me, and it took days and days of filing complaints, to get them removed.

Chris, I wanted to ask you about this. First of all, why should trolls be allowed to build attack forums on Topix? and if they do, why should it take days and days to remove them?

Well you should see some of the stuff going on in the Bridgeport CT threads - the racism, the nastiness, it's crazy. And it's all perpetrated by the trolls. Topix only removes the posts if you pay the $19.95 to have it done. Some of the vile postings are left up for days and weeks at a time. Maybe if enough people complain about the same posts often enough, they get taken down. But it still takes days for that to happen.

Who the heck is Chris Tolles? If he runs this site, he needs to make a few changes. Do away with the stupid "Judge it!" icons. Allow us to edit our posts, too. Also, I have removed several thread in just a few hours of constant feedback. If you're that adamant about having something taken off of this site, you need to report continuously throughout the day. There's no need to pay $19.99.

You have never been banned hacked or taken down. All your comments post and you yourself took down your own blog. You original user account was taken down after multiple complaints alerted TOPIX to TOS violations on your part.

So Chris, I see here is a troll representative from the Topix investigative bureau, staffed apparently, by all trolls, how convenient.

Is there no order in this company? where is the management here? what is going on with Topix.com and Topix.net ?

and then you ask "how about more?"

This I wanted to ask you about Chris. Why does Topix charge a $19.99 fee to remove offensive posts? The country is waking up to this, Nebraska and 22 other states are demanding that Topix reform its practices and drop the $19.99 fee it charges for faster reviews of offensive comments on its forums.

Virginia, the $19.99 charge is the special Troll price -- they get a discount. You have to pay the full price which is $99.99. You should sue for discrimination.

Nope, this is the Topix price for millions of reader's - including children - desperate to remove deeply hurtful and slanderous comments. Not only does Topix allow and facilitate these comments, they have the nerve to charge extra for their removal.

that crock of bull is often used and many including myself are not taking it..If it happens to me again I will more aggressively join my AG RICHSARD BLUMENTHAL THAT I AM LICENSED BY with the CT Dept of Consumer Protection for 27 years so I a acutely aware of rights , standards and Practices that must be adhered to...Topix is not exempt from those same S&P.. It is in the best interest for Tolles to start the positive instead the obvious violators rewarded, rarely removed and the reporters of such actions, those who have been exploited are punished..Uh I think NOT!
Any doofus calling anyone who is being harassed, violated is a troll and possibly a hired troll...all my dealings with TOPIX Is stored, every communication...in case I am thrown under the bus for the sake of a troll..Draw your own conclusions as to what I will do with all I have chronicled...saved.

Chris, I'll let you answer this one:

"You get much more in discourse, than you lose in “extra” banned commentary – so why the gnashing of editorial teeth over this issue? The “anonymous” issue is just a red herring. Really, what these journalists are threatened by is the nature of truly public discourse on the web. These people are not barbarians that appeared one day the net went up." - Chris Tolles from Anonymous Comments by the numbers.

You call this "public discourse"? its called trolling Chris Tolles, and also apparently Topix's only PR department. This is the "red herring" you and Topix are supporting, and your own thread proves it.
