Heatwave latest: Warm weather leaves Britain sweltering

About time too.
UK missed out on a relatively warm summer for 3 years. The last summer was also marked by a significant cloud cover & numerous high rainfall event low pressure cells.
About time the UK actually got a dose of the fabled "Gulf stream" monsoonal flow, which had been significantly weakened since @ least 1997.
Will be also awaiting a few of the impressive evening "hum dinger" thunderstorms that result from frontal rainfall crossing into the hot pool on a large island surrounded by sea breezes. The good ones can drop 8-15cm of rain in about 3 hours of an evening with occasional large hail in the early stages (see old "hammer horror" movies for details of old historic examples).
