Geithner: Obama was part of the Congress creating many problems

Geithner: Obama Member Of Congress I Said He Inherited Problems From

Sec. Tim Geithner before the House Appropriations Committee admits that Obama was a member of the Congress that he claimed to inherit problems from.

Congressman Tom Graves (R-Georgia): Mr. Secretary, before my question, I know you're reflecting on the past and you're talking about the Congress and the problems that the President inherited from the previous Congress, I certainly want to remind everyone that the President was a part of that previous Congress and the problems that he inherited being in the Senate. Am I correct?

Geithner: I was referring to the Congress that ended in '08 because again, it's worth going through this. The huge drivers of the increase in debt are, to be fair, about three things. Over the long run, they're about Medicaid, Medicare, Social Security -- millions of retirees.

Rep. Graves: The President wasn't a part of that Congress that ended in '08.

Geithner: No, the President -- well, I see you're point. That's a good point. He was a Senator for two years.

The Hill Poll: Majority of voters believe Obama has changed country for worse

By Sheldon Alberts
07/09/12

Two-thirds of likely voters say President Obama has kept his 2008 campaign promise to change America — but it’s changed for the worse, according to a sizable majority.

A new poll for The Hill found 56 percent of likely voters believe Obama’s first term has transformed the nation in a negative way, compared to 35 percent who believe the country has changed for the better under his leadership.

The results signal broad voter unease with the direction the nation has taken under Obama’s leadership and present a major challenge for the incumbent Democrat as he seeks reelection this fall.

Daily Horoscope for May 20

Pisces

Your mind is razor sharp today, making it easy to reach decisions and put your thoughts into words. Make the most of this articulate and brainy phase, especially if that means taking part in a discussion or putting your ideas down on paper. If you need to defend your opinions you'll manage to do so without sounding aggressive or dictatorial.
