Yes, good work Nimby's, home depot would have been an abomination. This is much, much, better. I certainly hope the employees can go back to work soon.

I wonder how much insurance $$ RD Management will collect on this one. The town should be happy they are rehabbing this dump - after all the time and taxpayer money they spend preventing RD from tearing it down and building a brand new shopping center, then voting down to rezone it as mixed use. This place will be with us forever, thanks to our town leaders!

Shameful!
Town still not doing their job. Wait till someone gets killed I guess. Shut it down from K-MArt to Market Basket. Maybe the new Town Manager can lean on his Building and Heath Deptartments to do their jobs. You have to be crazy to consume and food prepared or sold in that location. The renovation claim is BS.

Why don't they interview one of the lay abouts at Town Hall instead of the clean-up contractor? Ask them some tough questions. They are not renovating the Mall. They just put up some barrier walls. Electricity and water is a deadly combination. Only a matter of time that a tragedy will happen. Why would anyone bring there clothes to a Dry Cleaners in a leaky building?

Home Depot offered to redo that whole complex for free. FREE. This mean NO TAX DOLLARS NEEDED. Who the hell is calling the shots in Billerica? This would open many opportunities for jobs and hopefully put that overpriced store, O'Connors out of business. Additionally, it would fix that eyesore of a so called mall. WAKE UP PEOPLE. Forget O'Connors lobbiest. The store was good for a long time. But more over rover. Let's put a new store in place.

It was just a matter of time for this to happen. Refurb since 2008...what? where? when? All anyone saw was once Dollar Store was signed they did all they could to get this store in place. What about all of the current businesses?Papa Ginos,Ma's Cleaners,K-mart...they all remained the same no refurb ALLOWED for these long standing paying tenants? Thank goodness no one was injured. The town MUST put this issue to the top of their list. This has been going on for 15-18 yrs, and the mall has not done anything to maintain their property! With the money they have saved over the yrs(abatements)they could easily have maintained the property and made more money with Viable tenants.Step up to the plate Billerica and do your job!

RD Management has no intention of renovating the mall or trying to get new tenants. They want to wait it out until "Billerica" begs for the Home Depot. We should be proud of O'Connors and other local businesses, like Ma's Cleaning and get RD to either really renovate and fill the mall with businesses or sell the property to someone who will.

Agree 100%. The townspeople of Billerica would rather look and shop at a run-down building when a major company offered to raze it, build a brand new building, do some MUCH needed improvements to Billerica center, and bring in hundreds more jobs than that swill they are looking at now. Since they voted HD out, they can suffer with it for all i care. I don't want to hear them complain, they have ZERO right to. And all to save an elderly gentlemen running an overpriced hardware store, pathetic!!

Good Luck to you 'Rica peeps! You made your bed, now sleep in it!

I guess you don't live in the area and wouldn't be bothered by the noise, traffic and pollution caused by the deliveries, tractor trailers and over abundance of cars in the area.

So you are against having new stores in an existing mall because of the traffic and noise? Do you realize how stupid that sounds?
