Global warming IS a fact and it must be seen in terms of the GLOBAL temperature, not Chicago.

And they are right to say that the global average surface temperature will CHANGE CLIMATE which is why climate in places like Chicago is changing.

Nuff said.

That's right, Global warming must be seen in terms of global temperature, not anecdotal local deviations. And as such, global temperatures have been flat for over a decade. If a trend appears again, it's up for grabs whether it will be increasing or decreasing temperatures.

In any case, global temperatures are not on course with the prognostications from the usual crowd..

True.

False.

Sense free noise. AGW is the SURFACE temperature and this has no 'pause'. Only the noisy 'meteorology' data has problems and only with one analysis due to flaws in data coverage.

Ignorance gives you free rein to speculate. But it is ignorance, not understanding.

Says you, the numbers say otherwise.

Here's the link to HADCRUT4 global Combined land [CRUTEM4] and marine sea surface temperature (SST):

http://www.cru.uea.ac.uk/cru/data/temperature...

Load that into Excel as follows:(It takes a little bit to get it reformatted)

     | A | B | C
  1 | YYYY.xx | DATA | Formu la
...
1801 | 2001.00 | 0.364 | -0.00 0477979
...
1957 | 2014.00 | 0.507 |=SLOPE(B1956:B$1958,A1956:A$1 958) |
1958 | 2014.08 | 0.299 |=SLOPE(B1957:B$1958,A1957:A$1 958) |

Copy the formula in cell [C1958] and paste it on up the column. The earliest you find a negative value is cell [C1801] and so that means the temperature has been essentially flat since January 2001. You can do whatever you like, stand on your head and spit wooden nickles if you want to, but it won't change the facts.

Other data sets GISS, UAH etc. give different results, but they're all over a decade.

Recent research suggesting the so-called slowdown in surface warming might be less than previously thought has been met with interest from both climate scientists and skeptics. We hear from the authors about some of the queries raised and why they think their research is not the final say on whether or not the "slowdown" is real.

A paper released last week challenged the idea put forward in the most recent IPCC report that there has been a so called "slowdown" in surface warming recently, saying temperature rise in the last decade and a half may be nothing unusual after all.

The authors of the new research used satellite data to essentially plug the holes in the Met Office's HadCrut4 temperature record where on-the-ground measurements are sparse. We reported on the new research here.

On top of that, ocean heat content is actually accelerating.

Deniers like you are ever hopeful, but no, the world continues to warm.

From the article:
The National Weather Service released a report stating that Chicago had the coldest winter on record dating back to 1872. Chief Meteorologist Candice King of WTVO in Rockford, Illinois was one of many who had to bear the cold December through January months. She stated that the average temperature for this past winter 22 degrees and that Chicago received just a little over 80 inches of snow, which made it the third snowiest winter on record.
//////////
Here's a dangerous confirmation of AGW.
The AGW enhanced temperatures in the high Arctic have been rising for over a half century, such that presently, the high Arctic, over millions of square kilometers, hasn't had a temperature as low as the norm for almost 5 months. Over millions of square kilometers the temperature has been as high as 16degC(29degF) over normal. So much AGW enhanced energy is in the Arctic, that Arctic cold has easily been driven south to Canada & the U.S., all winter long & even longer.

The Canadian & U.S. winters have been so bad, that sleazy, slimy steenking toxic topix AGW denier liars have to cheer(like cheerleaders?) over a 'nice spring day', altho AGW caused billions(trillions?) of dollars of economic loss during the winter. & we ain't even talkin 'bout Europe.

New paper shows the rate of sea level rise is declining over the last decade. Obviously that doesn't mean the missing heat isn't in the deep ocean, it just shows how ENSO is changing rainfall patterns. Now we're also looking for missing water LOL.

No it doesn't, thicko.

"We find that when correcting for interannual variability, the past decade’s slowdown of the global mean sea level disappears, leading to a similar rate of sea-level rise (of 3.3 ± 0.4 mm yr−1) during the first and second decade of the altimetry era."

And the " find " was as simple as a few people tapping away on a keyboard, as usual.

A little more exactly, the average temperature above the 80th parallel has been above its normal for ~135 days. Presently, it appears to be the longest time above its 50+ year average, recorded during that period. If anyone else can find a longer period in the last 50 years, please post. It is quite remarkable.

It is not coincidental that these AGW energy enhanced temperatures have forced cold Arctic air, due to darkness & no direct heat from the sun, to the south, causing major cold troubles for Canada & the U.S. this winter.

Warming is a hype to control the economy of the world. The climate changes constantly and man has had small effect on it. We do need to protect nature but not at the piece of mankind. Much of surface warming can be attributed to the misplacement of weather stations near heat gathering surfaces. Satellites have not been up long enough to matter for true climate research. 55 years of satellite research is not enough for a planet billions of years old.
