Thanks to gentle persuasion from oil companies and their political allies, we'd prefer to spend 20% of GDP dealing with climate catastrophe rather than spending 1% of GDP to prevent it.

So, all the smoke coming out of the processing plants (refineries), is water steam?!

But that is 20% of PUBLIC money taken from their customers vs 2% of what comes to them (i.e externalised costs or 'private profit vs public costs'.)

You're wasting your time trying to help dyed-in-the wool alarmists, they're much too far gone.
It's like performing CP on someone who's been dead for a month, the only difference is that alarmists aren't actually dead yet, they just think they are.

as there is no such thing as man made global warming, latin America is due for a vast scamming in the name of "Nature" and a non-existant threat . Blame it on the banks and "big Oil" etc, it is the very same corporations who will scam you in the name of AGW. What a scam.

by the way exactly HOW do you prevent this imaginary catastrophe? by taxing even more? You hippies can talk up a good crisis, but you don't really know how to stop it.

Because you CAN'T ! any climate change is a natural event. You people have been advocating taxation to cure natural happenings. The last time this was done in America was when the Aztecs sacrificed to the gods for a good crop.

Yeah, the internet r yer unuhvers-uh-tee.

Without watching your waco-weary apocalypse church bullshit, I have an idea: simply ask myself a few pertinent questions.

(1)How much air pollution comes from a closed tank of oil?

Answer: very little. Nearly none.

(2)If I have to heat a column of oil and various fractions are going to escape, how much of it will I let escape?

Answer: as little as possible, it'd be none if I could, but I can't. I can however extract very lightweight fractions, so the fact is, I can capture the vast majority of it.

(3)What is the source of the V.A.S.T. majority of emissions from a refinery?

ANSWER: T.H.E. STEAM FROM THE FIRES USED TO HEAT THE OIL to SEPARATE IT.

(4)Any chance this is wrong?

ANSWER: LIKELY VERY LITTLE. CLEANUP / CAPTUREROCESSES ARE EXTREMELY SOPHISTICATED relative to when they started: so, WHAT'S THE CHANCE this SCREAMING DIAPER WETTER IS AN ECO WACKO?

About 100%.

Simply because you're too stupid to recognize the COLOR OF STEAM from a SMOKESTACK
and you're not OLD ENOUGH to have ever S.E.E.N. AN ACTUALLY, POLLUTED SKY,

and because you're BLIND to the fact not everyone got their education on YEWTEWB

you're in here humiliating eco-wackos everywhere.

In disclaimer I did actually, briefly, search for, percentages of each gas emitted by a refinery but, since I couldn't find any,

I have to assume what we all, already know: emissions are already at VERY low levels relative to the past. They're likely ALMOST ENTIRELY S.T.E.A.M.

Anyone wanna bet?

Your two PHOTOS showing emissions of almost ENTIRELY STEAM within the united states and a NATURAL GAS VENTING FLAME show N.O.T.H.I.N.G. but some WATER and CO being formed really.

So YEAH I'M CALLING BULLSHIT ON YOUR ECO-PANIC TEARJERK PARTY.
You're an ignorant eco-hick.

Trillions at the minimum if they don't get a handle on how to deal with the problems they are discussing.

Your guess is as good as anyone elses, Mr Undoubtably Spelt Fourty, but as with anyone else, that's all you've got.
