ESCANABA - Escanaba Public Safety has confirmed remains found Thursday are that of Jean Lawrence, 56, who was reported missing Feb. 6 at approximately 8 p.m. within the city of Escanaba.

Preliminary information indicates the cause of death is likely from exposure.

Lawrence's remains were discovered in an industrial area within the city limits, along the shores of Little Bay De Noc. The discovery was made by an individual who immediately contacted Public Safety.

Officers responded and confirmed a body had been located. The area where the remains were discovered was cordoned off to conduct an investigation. The Michigan State Police Crime Lab and the Delta County Medical Examiner Investigator were summoned to the scene to assist.

Preliminary findings from an autopsy conducted Thursday at OSF St. Francis Hospital have determined the cause of death to be from exposure.

Escanaba Public Safety would like to thank the following agencies that assisted with the investigation and efforts in trying to locate Jean Lawrence: Delta County Sheriff Department, Menominee County Sheriff Department, Marquette County Sheriff Department, Marquette City Police Department, Michigan State Police, Negaunee City Police Department, NMU Public Safety Department and Forsyth Township Police Department.

Whom ever this dead woman's family is you should have remains of this woman checked out in marquette at least their they will give you true facts of what really what happened delta county on the other hand covers everything up because nobody wants too be accountable for wrong action taken. Who knows she could have been kidnapped murdered you think officers are gonna bring another murder in this town don't think so they already got FBI on there ass for Adams death I think it would be best on family's part if someone went ahead took action in another county see what you really find if something else is found that wasn't in delta have a frickin lawsuit make something of these piss poor services delta county has to offer maybe people will get fired n things can turn around for the public. The head detective lied to me, I believe. When he " had the time " to answer my questions when my mom went missing, he said that the Escanaba Public Safety ( JOKE ) did 2 searches for my mom. One of them was with canines ?? As if I'm going to believe this lie. I hope all of these a holes are hels accountable for my Mother's death !!!!
