Jennifer,
I got several pictures of this property today. I'll post them on my site in just a few minutes.

I could see no structural damage and of course, I couldn't tell anything about water being inside. The tree on the front right corner (facing the property, on the right) has broken in two and is hanging over power lines. Looks like it just grazed the roof--at least I could not see any roof damage. Maybe the pictures will help with that for now.
Tell him the popular Thai restaurant in the adorable pink house is now flattened completely. And next door to it, the blue frame beautiful house that lawyers had officed in is nothing but concrete and a pile of debris.
Looks like most structures in his area took on water. Hope it helps that his building is at least still standing.
Let me know if I can help in any other way. After seeing the tree lying over the power lines, I was too afraid to go in the backyard to take pictures.
Jennifer,
I noticed the sign on the building. Is this a non-profit group that helps our special needs population?

J Seabrook : I sure appreciate you for posting pictures of Seabrook for us to see.Our son lives on Todville (just north of Hammer) and your pictures help us to understand the situation more than words ever could. Please continue adding to your "album" -- you are serving a very important need.I had just spent a wonderful week in Seabrook in August. Now I feel so helpless in Florida because he does not want me to come and help him,due to no electricity, etc.Again, thanks for all your help via your pix and this forum.
Please keep the pix coming...
Linda,
You're quite welcome. I'm so glad to hear it is helping. I do know what it's like to not know--I had close family in Florida during Ivan and Dennis, and what a nightmare it was to be so far away, feeling so helpless.

How is your son's home? Has he been back yet?

I have many more pics to post (this eve)-- of the Meyers area, Adriana's house, and Old Towne.

Linda,
If your son has not been back, if you'll tell me a range of addresses (trying to respect privacy concerns), I may be able to get enough pictures where he can see his house.(or you can contact me at [email protected] if he wants me to look at his specific home and take notes of what I see).

Don't be shy to ask, if it would help. I don't mind at all.

Much, if not all, of his area is also viewable from the noaa satellite pics.

J Seabrook, I want to thank you for your concern for my son...From all these posts, I can see what a truly wonderful group of people live in Seabrook. My son evacuated, and returned to his home Monday and has been there ever since. His home ,with all thanks to the Lord, was spared from major damage. He still had a terrific amount to do outdoors during the daylight hours ever since he has returned. He was very happy when the plumber came Wednesday afternoon to repair his damaged water pipe. Now he has cold running water! Still needs an electrician before he can receive electricity, due to the storm surge getting into wiring.I thank the Lord for protecting him and his home (the main living space of his home). Although this is going to take a long time, Seabrook will rebuild.I am glad that some of the developments were mostly undamaged. I am so sorry though for all of the people whose homes were severely damaged or destroyed.I hate hurricanes!!!

WOW the pictures are so sad to see. Glad not every one had such damage as some. Hope clean up is going along well.

TIP: For any one with a smelly fridge after power outage. A small bowl of unused coffee grounds placed inside will help remove the odor. We had it happen to us and it worked great. Just leave it in there until you remember to remove it or spill it.That would be my trick.:^( Chris

I know a Seabrook resident who just got utilities today Sat. Sept 20th....
Danielle Lally wrote:
My mother-in-law and a close family friend live in Seabrook. They are here. We do know there is no utilities and they are not letting residents return home yet. The area around Old Seabrook, which normally floods, has water but other areas do not have any flooding.
Went to Seabrook's website ( http://www.ci.seabrook.tx.us ) and they have a number to call for information and will post updates on this site. Hopefully you will be able to get information this way.

Does anyone have any information on "ian Lidman". Apparently he refused to evacuate his house in Galveston as he did not want to leave his Dogs behind. i have been trying to track Ian down for a number of years to no avail and all contact ceased. If any one does know i would love to get in contact with him

I just want to say that my sympathies go to all the families and those with loved ones in the area. I am a BOI from Galveston and lost everything but the clothes i left with myself. I am fortunate though that I am still young enough to rebuild and I don't have any children so this is much easier on me. I would like to offer that if anyone has any questions about building back your home you can contact me. I work for a general contractor and i am no way soliciting business. I am helping friends and family that lost everything. It is hard to navigate FEMA and the insurance. Even if you want to know the process of building back your home I am willing to help you out and give you info. My email is [email protected]
