1,100 Government jobs a month! Is that supposed to be a good thing? Only for the 'set for life' public employees. How the hell are we supposed to pay for that. "WE" just spent 9 million dollars on a stupid Paul Bunyan ad selling public health care. Crazy!

We just committed to 3/4 of a billion dollars towards a new stadium and didn't even bother to check Zygi's credit

The population has barely grown, why the hell do you think we need MORE, not BETTER, police, firefighters and teachers?
Typical liberal, there's no non-existent problem we can't spend real money on.

John Lee is right. It is not the responsibility of government to create job. It is their place to make sure job creation is possible. There is a big difference between these two things.

walmart jobs cost you more in tax dollars than public sector jobs do, but you go ahead and think that making minimum wage without benefits is a "good job"

but it is the responsibility of the government to provide safe and adequate infrastructure, as well as education and safety.

and with those things, come public sector jobs.

There are obvious needs for public sector jobs as you mentioned. However, there is no need for them to be unionized much less to have better wages and benefits than most in the private sector. Then there is the fact that they are almost impossible to fire even if they are caught on the steps of their place of work, mating with a goat, eating human body parts, randomly firing a gun in the air, and defecating on the pavement while on the clock. Even then there is no guarantee and they would likely get suspended with pay.

For decades I have lamented that children attend Public Schools where Teachers (gag) "work" 187 days per year, making 1 1/2 times the average wage of the Parents whose child is being Uneducated, and send their Students home to complain to Mom and Mom about how the Teachers are not being paid enough.

Dad and Dad are working in filth in some Factory or Construction site, sweating their azzes off, or freezing their azzes off, 340 days a year, just to have 1/3 of their Labor confiscated for redistribution (in part), to the Teacher (gag) who is putting in time in terrific buildings with all the BEST features, while indoctrinating their child, and turning the child against Mom and Dad because they are Greedy!

EVERY Teacher (gag) in America needs to be compensated at the average wage of those in the Community where they put in the 187 days per year.

And, For EVERY student that falls into the 30% Failure Rate, EVERY Teacher in the District needs to have the Wealth that they receive from their Neighbor's Labor reduced proportionally.

wow.

it's a well documented fact that 80% of walmart employees get their health insurance through medicaid, because their wages are below poverty level.
they also qualify, and receive SNAP benefits.

it's also a well documented fact that some people don't mind paying taxes, because the alternative is a generation of uneducated fools trying to run things.

maybe it's time you folks watch "Bound For Glory", and see the real reason that we have unions, and what unions in general have done for the average citizen.

.
I'll bet you guys think the ACA is socialism too ;)

Rocket Scientist,

"a generation of uneducated fools trying to run things"

We have had 2 Generations of Fools running things into the ground!

Were you born last week, or last year. Seriously, the world did not begin on the day of your birth.

60% of the People of Detroit that were "Educated" in the Government Schools by Unionista Teachers (gag), at the cost of Billions of Dollars are ILLITERATE!

This just Detroit.

Toss in all the 10's of Millions of other ILLITERATES that cannot be "educated", from all the Demokrat Plantations which are Cesspools, and we start talking real money in the Trillions wasted on Un Educable "Folk" by the Unionista's in the Government Schools, leaving these "Folk" with one hope.....get a Government "Position", like that of Teacher (gag), or some other make work Position within the Government.

"it's a well documented fact"

So where did the 80 percent come from? In the Daily Kos post, the writer puts quotation marks around his assertion, but there is no study Iíve been able to find anywhere that backs its up. Alan Grayson made a similar claim on Current TV a few years ago, and Polifact couldnít find any research to back up that claim either. Google the phrase and it always comes back to the same Daily Kos diary.

"According to the report, Walmart employs approximately 1.4 million American workers. Multiply that by $5,815 per worker and the total is almost $82 billion annually that Americans pay to keep Wal-Mart workers from starving to death."
.
.
but I think you shouldn't change your mind about Wal-Mart. They're clearly offering you and your neighbors a living wage, and a pleasant shopping experience.
