The FACTS are that [Dagobert's epithet] practiced secret 'marriages' with other men's wives and fourteen year-old girls. These are the FACTS that you can not refute.
Yes I can.
"Girls" is a plural noun. As such it is a lie.
The FACT is that in the ONE documented case where Joseph was sealed to a girl younger than fifteen, reputable historians, such as the Tanners are not, agree that the betrothal never became a marriage in fact.
The FACT is that, in a moment of weakness, you actually broke down and admitted that not all of Joseph's marriages involved sex. You are to be congratulated for that rare bit of honesty; but, of course, it completely undercuts the idiotic assumption that plural marriage was merely for sexual gratification.
A further FACT is that, in a time when divorces were often informal, Joseph was sealed to some women who were estranged from their husbands. Some of those sealings were marriages in fact; some were not. Some of those plural wives were subsequently reconciled to their husbands; some were not.
Joseph was also sealed "for eternity only," i.e. a sealing that conferred no conjugal privileges, to some women who remained married in fact -- and physically faithful -- to other men.
Some people are interested in the truth; others in venting their hateful prejudices.
The truth, you see, is subtle, nuanced, and not easily expressed in bumper sticker slogans.
That means it takes an *attention span* to actually grasp any of it.
