LOL i loved every comment sofar there all hysterical =) Im orginally from Long Island and moved to NC almost 7 years ago, that kind of weather is here every other day, but i have to say the weather is awesome to watch =)

Definitely had Hail in Melville. Heard it but thought, in August??? nahhhhh. Ice age is coming people.

I work at the Sagamore Yacht Club, just next door to Oyster Bay Marine Center, this is the second week of the weirdest weather we've ever seen in 10 years of boating !

Huh, hail has nothing to do with colder temperatures. It's the violent winds up in the sky that thrust the rain higher, where it freezes and falls.
That same storm apparently set a house on fire too, and there's a storm going through southern CT that created a tornado. |

why doesnt the writer of this article tell how water spouts are created? go get a science background guy and ask him this for the article. this is why newspapers will wither away. reporters=lazy

I watched the video posted here on Newsday about the thunderstorm. The way those leaves on those trees swayed was truely frightening. The way that those raindrops pitter pattered on the pavement was horrifying. Those microscopic hail balls must of reeked havoc on the local ant population. Stay safe everyone and take cover.... The lightning was pretty cool...
