How do you write an obituary on Earl Finckle without mentioning he was part of an all-star team at radio station WIND-AM 560 in the 1970s? What's the matter with the Trib these days?

Didnt know about this, I remember Mr Finckle. Also, when he worked at WIND that was last great talk station in Chicago. The hosts opened up the hour, introduced a topic, and took calls from all sides of the issue.

You were the man we relied on.

Thank you for your intense and dedicated service.

You saved by butt on more than a few occasions-weather wise.

My sincerest condolence's to your extensive family.

Be very proud, he was an exemplary human being.

I worked for Earl in the 1980s and have to say he was an amazing man. He put 200% into his business every day and totally knew his stuff with respect to weather. He was not afraid to separate from the crowd and usually he was right. The crew who worked under him at Central Weather Service will miss him.
