as many large cities across america including knoxville tn. has approved chickens in city limits ..seems it is causeing a panic in chatt. town..funny thing the ones screaming the loudest, are the farm welfare bunch.. thats the ones who live off farm welfare checks, from the farm grandpaw owned, and they never spent a day on it .unless it was to party.but thats chatt town.they love there farm welfare check, tax credits ,no land taxs,, well tax 4 per acre but deer hunters pay 6 per acre to hunt it. so they pay no taxs.but they hate work and dont want to even see some one else tend to a chicken.

you get say 6 good laying hens, you will have more eggs than you can use,and thats after feeding your cats and dogs eggs.let them run loose in the day time.and your feed bill this time of year is almost nothing.running loose they do not need laying feed just a hand full of corn..you will not have ticks or chiggers in your yard..and as long as you watch close and protect fruit and veg. you dont want pecked..they will keep all the bugs out of your garden..

they are so much better than the crap we get at the fast food places. that may not even be chicken like they claim WAKE UP PEOPLE-THESE fast food places are not clean and the food you get may not be what you really wanted---do we even know what is in the food they serve us? NOPE that is why I do not trust a single fast food place in this town. I saw a girl drop a sandwich in the floor and pick it up wipe it off with a napkin and put the tomato, pickle, etc right back on and serve it. SHE even made a face(she thought no one saw) like there was no way she would have eaten it herself. true story.
wish I didnt know this

it has to do with a guy serving food at a fast food place. it has to do with vomit, and his wiping his mouth and taking a sip of the customers drink, putting lid back on and handing it out.didn't want to remember it or ruin it for evebody BUT you gotta watch everbody that serves you food.be safe,be sure.

why can't people just eat raw fruits and veggies-and drink water? it would be so much simplier and healthier for sure. eat apples, bananas, walnuts, pecans, black olives, carrots, cukes, lettuces, onins, tomatoes eggs, natural peanut butter.eat natural foods that have not been processed.pick what you know is safe. watetmelons, cantalope,Just try it and see what happens. people say it is too expensive to eat this way. think about how much cakes, pies, chips, cokes, crackers, pudding, jello, candy bars--look how much all this stuff cost and it makes you unhealthy. jus give it a try-see what happens. I am serious, and just trying to help people.I had to learn the hard way that i needed to eat the right way.

We should eat all that. We were designed to be omnivores, like it or not, it's who we are. Eating what you said with a sensible portion of unprocessed meat would be ideal.

really eating a few will not hurt.i lose around 200 per year to fox and coyote .. i hatch around 80 every 21 days. just gave away 100. young chicks that will be laying by spring.i feed my dogs and cats over a dozen eggs a day..and put about 50 in the freezer ever fall.chickens are easy to raise, and if you free range them little cost

I have hen chickens in the city limits and have for over four years. They are less noisy and require less maintenance than the dogs and cats I have.

Asphalt idiots who are against people having chickens need to shut the hell up. Deal with it.

I'm not against people having chickens and doing what they want to with them just don't let them run all over my property. I paid for my property and its not someone else's to farm because they want to free range chickens

now bees could be bad,,you need a free permit to have them..but little knowing fact,,city or county can not regulate them,,zoning can not keep them out..state law, passed in 95 when the state got into the bee honey sales tax thing..so if any body wanted to they could move a hundred hives down town or next door.funny how laws work when the state makes money on them.chickens where outlawed in most cities ,by pressure from the egg producers. not from the people..tn you can not sale milk.. in fl. you can sell milk ,in tn. you can sell eggs, in fl. its illegal to sell eggs.

one thing with chickens in city, a hen lays eggs 2 to 3 years..they can live around 10 years..if you dont eat them , they add up. my oldest hen died this spring..she was 8 year old.she had not laid a egg in 5 years. i got several other old layers that dont lay..that should live several more years.they are just pets that never leave the hen house.

its not just the council,,its the voters, the people most affected by this is in areas that the city just took over,,tn is the only state where a city can just take over land with out the voters approving it.no wonder tn. is rated in the 7 worst states to live.ever thing here is under the control, of a hand full of people. who milk home owners for all the tax money. while they own thousands of acres and pay no taxs. so called green belt.look at who put the pressure on the council..and it will become clear.
