And we all can say thank you lord. It's like having a fire alarm are a smoke detector in your home it's there for your protection and hopefully you will never have use it.

I think it is a good idea (and has been for the past 100 years or more, a little late but none the less) however it still falls short of the actual function of early warning there there is also a need to put in place a dual alarm in the I-10/ walmart/sonic area where MOST people would benefit from the system, again this is a good thing but could to be expanded upon for any real benefit to be effective. After all this is the area that funds chipley !(kinda do it or dont thing )

Where is a shelter?

Shelter? Who said anything about a shelter? But we've got a fancy siren that makes alot of noise the boys can play with. Keep your priorities straight. Emergency Management isn't about common sense, it's about the ego trip of letting someone feel important. I mean really, do we need someone to tell us to take shelter if there is a storm? I think we can do that on our own.

gives everyone "days" advance notice of a hurricane, TV news also gives notice when a tornado watch goes into effect. We need a whistle like we need a hole in the head.

I have some inside information.

The City of Chipley actually installed the siren to signal their employees to return to work. That's why the siren is on the old water tower. It can be heard from Baileys, Express Lane, and Tom Thumb. In Phase II, a siren will be mounted on top of the flagpole at the I-10 / SR 77 interchange, with enough signal boost to be heard from Javiers, and, with a South wind, all the way to Subway.(The last statement does not take in to account any noise that may be coming from the bingo parlor).

After interviewing several City officials that declined comment, an anonymous source did state, "Hell, we figured it would be cheaper than GPS." And then went on to explain, "Besides, FEMA would only give out sirens, not GPS units."

The anonomous spokesperson then abruptly ended the interview, saying something about 99 cent tacos.

Somebody brings up an idea and right away it gets done...Chipley needs a tornado siren like I need a hole in my head. TV news would let everybody know in advance that we have tornado conditions in the area before it even forms into one. My gas is my siren! its loud and it smells.
