Harkins: 'Impact will be felt for next several days'

Oct 30, 2012 | Posted by: roboblogger | Full story: The Stratford Star

Stratford is beginning to recover from what town officials are calling a "significant weather event" that has left thousands without power and wreaked havoc on the town's low-lying and flood prone areas.

What bull, Harkins. People had power Monday night and it was TURNED OFF on Tuesday deliberately! Parts of Stratford have power and other parts RIGHT NEXT TO THOSE WITH POWER don't have any! How do you explain that??

About 50% of Stratford lost their power. Tippy and her fish and I lost our power last Monday around 5:30 PM and we got back our power, today, around 2:00 PM.
Tippy was very upset, but, now very happy.

To Lynne B. Settle down and use this time to get a flash- light and get into a good book. Be a Harkin's Hero and read. When all is back to normal, you might get a free T-shirt.

I thought to be a Harkins hero you had to do something that required a decision so he could consult one of the town attorneys on it and increase their billable hours???

No, It's part of his (summer) reading program. It's now expanded to situations like these. Be a hero and read some books!

We lost power on Monday at around 6 p.m. Here it is THURSDAY and still no power, while others on the next block over have it, and have had it since the beginning of the storm. What gives? They deliberately turned a LOT of peoples' power off "for safety reasons". What horseshit. They deliberately turned power off so they could use this storm as an excuse to REPAIR lines that should have been repaired YEARS ago and weren't. Oooopsy. Got caught lying again. All those power company CEOs haven't earned and don't deserve the big bucks, lying to people like they do. What about people who have little kids and no heat? What about people whose medication needs to be refrigerated? What about the thousands and thousands of dollars worth of FOOD that people have had to throw away because it went bad?

Harkins and his ilk can kiss my ass. There's no way in hell I'll vote for that lying sack. And I'll settle down when honesty, and not bullshit, is the order of the day.

The mayor doesn't work for the power company. The power company can only do so much. I agree with Mitch. Read a good book and be one of Harkins heros. I suggest you read the book "burning bush".

No thank you. I know he doesn't work for the power company but all those people are complicit in that they lie to the general public about anything and everything. And I'm tired of it.

Besides I just finished reading 'Deep Down' by Lee Child. Awesome writer. Next up is 'A Wanted Man'.

Gee Lynn, Try read Fifty Shades of Grey. That should keep you hot. You'll never want the power to come on.

No, I'm deliberately avoiding reading that book, I'm not of the herd mentality. Besides, my real life is hot enough!

Well obviously, my goal is not to excite YOU, so don't hold your breath or anything. I read plenty, but right now, I'm too busy. Lots to do, not a lot of time to do it

It's a boring book, never finished it. My theory is that if your sex life is lacking you will enjoy it, those of us who have a good sex life...well are having sex, not reading about it.:)

Seems if you posted less you would have more time to do things and give your children some time. I found this power outage is great. Spending time with the family. My neighbors had a bond fire. The adults and children had a great time. No electronics. Now that our power is back all the neighbors want to have a lights out night and spend some quality time together. We were actually mad when our power was restored. I think the mayor should have some rolling black outs. It seems to bring the community together. Besides Lynn, from what I hear you look better in the dark.
