We've become the biggest pu$$ies, haven't we?

When I was a kid, winter meant routinely getting a foot of snow, then another foot of snow...then two weeks of blindingly cold weather. We used to have snow piled in our yard until May.

Now, eight inches of snow has us running in circles and ringing our hands like we live in Jamaica.

Who named this storm? Makes me want to watch my "20,000 Leagues Under the Sea" DVD again. "Bring it on" is too mild of a comment, and I think "collision speed" is so much more appropriate!

(I wonder how many of you who heard John Belushi use this phrase in "Animal House" know that it was originally uttered by James Mason who played Capt. Nemo?)

It was just a normal snowfall for Albany and just the typical load of hype from the media.

I moved to a rural 'micro farm' in East Greenbush in December and it still has my location in Rensselaer.

The immediate Mohawk-Hudson valley around Albany is somewhat climatically protected from the Northeast's most extreme weather I've noticed in my three-and-a-half decades here.

In January, 1977 (had just turned 20 - am now 56) I was stranded at a co-worker's house during the Great Buffalo Blizzard of '77. Fortunately I had a film can with manicured weed and a 'bowl' in my car, and would occasionally "go for walks" in the blizzard outside their house ... groovy, Daddy-O, even though people were dying in that storm.

At the time anything under a quarter-ounce in NY State was a misdemeanor, anything over that was a felony, and NO amount was decriminalized to violation status until that very summer just before our family moved to Church Rd. in Guilderland.

Is that where you torture those young boys before you bury them?

Well, THAT was certainly called for and justified, as I got busted twice in my life: 1982 and '84 for hashish possession and drunk driving respectively. Those misdemeanors are LONG off my record and I currently hold a valid Enhanced license that whisks me through Canada (VERY strict DWI laws there) without a passport, and can legally vote and own firearms to this day.

I can certainly understand how you'd suspect someone who's enjoyed 'partying' most of his life as being akin to John Wayne Gacy. Let me take a wild guess: YOU'RE the illegtimate love child of Nancy Reagan and Jerry Falwell!

And today I cleared my driveway NOT with a shovel, but rather a Troy-Bilt snowblower because ... I'm a "pussy" of course (in your eyes) for not physically being Marine Corps 'tough' at age 56. Thank God for "The Big Liebowski", because tonight I'm drinking "faggy" White Russians with my weed, and he made them look masculine ... HIPPIE-masculine, yes, but still masculine !!!
