Umm maybe you should sit down and think how bad you wanted to miss school when you was younger and trash talking kids calling them poor babies and saying we are not real girls does make you a man or a woman by the looks of your username I really can't tell who u r

<quoted text>Most livestock is out 24/7, yes it's possible they could freeze. Probably 75% of kids these days are taken to school by Mom, of the remaining 25% most either wait for the bus in Mom's car or leave the house when the bus is coming. The few that do have to wait in the cold could just stay home. No need to shut down the whole system because of a handful of students. Use some common sense. Like I said, people have too much quit in them these days.
Exactly.

It won't hurt them. I guess kids in Alaska never attend school all winter? What about Canadian children? They don't get an education because it's cold? You dumb&@$!

MN gov called off school for the entire state because of cold weather. MN never misses and did you ever think about the fact that we are not equipped for this kind of cold like Alaska and Minnesota are? It's like the South when they get several inches of snow, they do not have the snow plows or whatever to handle it like we do.Some of the buses may not have even started on these cold days. Did you go to work? Did you take you kids out in this? Did you let your kids go out and play? Some of the schools may not have even had power or water. Get a life and quit criticizing the children. Next year all of these days will have to be made up.

I would hope parents would have the last say when it comes to their childrens well being. When my kids were small i didnt send them when i thought it was to bad.I went to school back in the day too.and i can still remember those days and thats why i am the one who desides .Missing a day of school wont kill them but slick roads and sub zero weather will.

I lived un Alaska they are prepared for temperature related issues. Yet there are times if the temperature is below a certain degree they do cancel school

It is not necessarily that we do not prepare but we do not have all the resources available for weather that cold and even if we did it would be too expensive. I went and asked about some things for my car and no one could help me because they were not trained for temps this cold. We generally do not prepare for tornadoes or hurricanes they way they do in FL because that is generally not an issue here. They don't prepare for blizzards like us. OH and the wind we had a couple of years ago, who was prepared for that? Like no one!!!! So prepare as you might, you cannot be prepared for every situation!!!!!!!!!!

Since Kanawha County Schools are in today (albeit on a 2 hr delay), I guess we should sit back and watch the death toll rise from all of these darling little children freezing to death as some of you hand wringing worry warts would suggest.

It won't matter what the Kanawha County BOE or any other BOE decides, parents will complain!!!!! I am sure none of them really worry about it because one way or the other, they will hear complaints.

The parents in Kanawha county should worry more about the drinking water than a little cold snap.

AMAZING! I've heard of absolutely no mass deaths or piles of frozen children. It actually sounds like sending the little darlings to school in these inhumane conditions went off without a hitch.

I'm sure this irritates the heck out of you hand wringers... that you've been exposed as a bunch of overreacting coddlers.

"But, but, but..... THE CHILDREN!!!!!!!!!!" you all cried.

Get over it already.
