A follow-up time frame for this warning would be very helpful. Many people are out of town and returning on Thursday during the day or evening.

Make it a law when V-DOT or the Police say stay off the roads to close the stores down so people will not have any where to go so they will have to stay off the roads but long as the stores and JOBS are open then you got to go or get fired and who can afford to lose the jobs over what they say and don't mean a thing so they might as well to shut up and don't say a thing because we are going wheather they say so or not as long as our JOBS says to be here. Close them down when it starts to snow so people can get home and stay off the roads but longs as one store is open we will be on the roads so V-DOT AND THE POLICE DEPARTMENT IS wasting there time to tell anyone to stay off the roads because there words don't mean a thing to the work companys and the drivers have got to do what there boss and company say so safety don't mean a thing no more so get with the program and hold on and get V-DOT to do a better job and get to work because they can't close them down and we will be on the roads and it isn't a thing they can do about it.

NANNY! NANNY! NANNY! The world does not stop because of snow on the roadways! If you have to go, do so with proper equipment....not a minivan or compact when 14" of snow covers the roads. And one final piece of advice, LEARN TO DRIVE! Practice on sunny days, in darkness, on rainy days, and all combinations. And finaly when you have that mastered, on snowy days. And stay in Practice! Otherwise, stay at home where everyone is safe!

It ain't the snow I worry about, I gots my license in Chicago with a foot of snow on the ground. Driving in the snow is a breeze. Its southern nitwits who can't fathom physics on a slick road thats the problem.

Well no....driving in the snow is not a breeze....many who think so learn hard lessons quickly. 2 neighbors, one NY the other NJ...neither seems to have a clue....the excuse for their inability...the inclines...well duh...IL, NY, and NJ all flat compared to C VA.

If you don't like it then go back where you came from and just maybe you will get more snow then you can handle. Maybe that's why you moved down here.

Didn't say I didn't like it nimrod, and I don't really care how deep it gets, although it gets pretty deep on here, the deeper the better as it keeps nimrods off the road. My Land Rover goes everywhere.

Until the State Police and insurance companies start saying, if the state says roads are to bad to be on, and they are called to an accident and give the car driver a ticket for lets say,$1000.00, for being on the roads, and then insurance companies stop paying for repairs to cars when in an accident during that time, it will never stop. People will go out on the roads just to go. They can't stay home and clean or rest because they are stupid. Or like yesterday, the day after Christmas, these people, had to go shopping again or just go out to be seen. I for one, hope insurance company stop paying for repairs because they went out on bad roads. And if the Gov, calls a state of emerg. in the state, a company or store, can not fire you if you don't or cat get to work, so the people who say, I have to be at work, Bull@&^$. Look up the labor laws. Only people out should be police, firemen and first aid and hospital workers. Not workers at the mall or Arby's or Mc Donalds. If you don't agree, to damn bad.

This is what I said. I'm with you all the way so how do we get this across to the stores and companys saying be here or fired. V-DOT needs to put there foot down and get the law change to this. Good thinking and it's good to know someone else got a good mind on these points.

I work in Heath Care; we run 365x24. Which of you wants to go without care when it snows? These are extremely short sighted comments.

Now I'm worried, you stated you work in health care, and if you read my first and only comment, I included hospital workers, If you can't read a comment , I hope the hell you don't give out meds or give anyone shots, maybe you clean bathrooms or mop floors, If you type or keep records . I hope you don't work at my UVA. Learn to read... before shooting your lips off.
