Frustration flooded storm-battered parts of New York on Tuesday as Congress seemed ready to allow yet another day to pass without approving badly needed disaster aid.

the two-year payroll tax expired as expected.
it wasn't an "unexpected" raise in taxes. most people knew about this. it was not a surprise...

I'll ignore your stupid, dishonest lies about me (I've worked all my life, actually) and merely indicate that I know what this alleged "tax increase" actually is - an increase in FICA withholding back to previous levels.

You need to pay for Social Security, numbnuts. That's why it went up again, so we can keep doing that. Personally, I'm OK with that.

Well-said. Of course a worthless rag like the Moonie Times has to have one of their paid chimps type out some nonsense about "liberals" who are "complaining about a tax increase." It excites their readership and boosts ad revenues, I'm sure.

Occasional vacation? He takes more time off than any ceo I know. The costs of his vacations will stagger you. More debt!

Turning on the brain -dead base??

How do you know if "most people knew about it"? It was not a surprise?

Of course it was. The entire past year, all they heard was "no one not in the top 1% will see a tax increase".

So they've been sucker punched. You certainly don't care.

Anyone paying attention knew it was a temporary reduction in payroll deductions intended to put more money in people's pockets short-term, as part of the recovery.

If they DIDN'T know, why don't you blame them for it? That's what Conservatives usually do, isn't it?

Incidentally, there was no "tax increase." There was an increase in SS payroll deductions back to the previous level. Let's be clear on that.

For those confused about the payroll SS increase, it's like this:

If I pay $250/month in rent month after month after month and then hit a bad spot, say I lose my job, and my landlord decides to be nice to me and say 'Make it $150/month the next couple of months, until you get a job'....and I get a job and go back to paying $250, I don't call that a "rent increase." That's just going back to paying the normal amount.

nice to see some people and their thought process never change....

"How do you know if "most people knew about it"? It was not a surprise?"
to answer your question in a way that you'll understand, HOW DO YOU KNOW THEY DIDN'T?

it was a two year reduction in payroll taxes, for the people who remember this (going back only 2 years), it was not a surprise.

Let's also be clear that coming home with less money -'cause the government took it - is the usual definition of a tax to most people.

How do I know they didn't? Because your plastic Jesus campaigned on telling them that they wouldn't have a "tax increase".

Or aren't you aware that most people consider DDI deductions as a "tax". The government thinks it is.
