So the city taxes the taxpayers to buy new homes for certain people, yet does nothing to help all?

"I don't know where they all went," Lozano said, "but most have gotten bigger, nicer homes."

That's nice. My home is still the same size, but taxes have gone up.

Maybe how someone feels or thinks is purely none of your rotten business. Did you ever think of that? Have a nice day.:)

the people who have lived there all their lives that dont want to move, should not have to be forced. Ive grown up in central el paso, and im content of where i live. I wouldnt want anyone trying to get me to sell a house that contains history of myself and my family. And people are losing significant things like that for money. Its a shame, we have plenty of empty lots elsewhere. Why central El Paso?????>

Many in NO said much the same until Katrina. We didn't have a Katrina but it was devastating to those in the affected area. The city (that's all of us) was only doing their duty to help those unfortunate souls. May all of you nay sayers be blessed to eternity and never have to suffer like those in that area did.

That's what home insurance if about. You insure your investment, but to expect the city give SOME people a free nicer house than the one they had while doing nothing for others who suffered loses is ridiculous. Look at people who actually bothered to have insurance but they didn't have flood insurance, they didn't get a free bigger house.

I would venture a guess that some of us "naysayers" have had disasters in our lives and for this "naysayer" three times. No government entity ever replaced my home. I pay for insurance. AND no one is born with the right to live in the home that carries your memories. Ask any military family. Expecting taxpayers to buy out homes is the arrogance of today's politician.
