They've already declared independence in Donetsk People's Republic. I expect them to do similar in Luhansk. What I do not get is how Obama and the west can imagine they can somehow roll back that independence. All they need is for the international community to recognize their independence. Russia is in no hurry because they know it is a foregone conclusion and they can wait as long as it suits them.
To be frank I was quite shocked over the lame slaps on Russia's wrists the West gave :(

It's like the West doesn't comprehend the nature of Putin, you can't talk with him, he is lying all the time so why do they think that he would be sincere all of a sudden?

Had the West declared war unless Putin backs off Ukraine, then this might not have escalated and lives would be saved. Then again the West did nothing when Putin invaded Georgia, which was a huge mistake.

Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania were annexed just like Crimea. Before the iron curtain fell down Soviet arranged many 'protests' where Russians made it look as if it was what Estonians wanted.

After they were left behind the iron curtain the outside world didn't know anything about what kind of life they lived, the russian propaganda was fed to the West but nothing from the ethnic populations. Soviet's iron curtain was cruel, it locked people inside and they were not allowed to travel anywhere.

USA formally declared that the annexation of the Baltic countries was illegal, however it didn't make any difference, they were already hidden.

So if the iron curtain once again falls down with Ukraine on the wrong side, then it doesn't matter if the rest of the world declares Ukraine an independent nation, it's too late :(

Is there anything else that could be done? Any suggestions?

Either you believe the BS-propaganda from the west because you can't think critically or then you know the real truth behind the fire in Odessa.
Both options suck, yet life after death would probably easier for you if you were brainwashed instead of being fully aware of Zionist regime's role.
----------
n the Twitterspace, the new govt in Ukraine trolls track down and relentlessly attack those who oppose this propaganda campaign. Last year's revelations by Tymoshenko the terror about a large office building full of “goal-oriented people who like to surf the Internet” in Odessa give a glimpse of Internet mercenaries, willing for Sheckel's to sell a tweet, a comment or a post on a given topic. They also use automated Twitter accounts to send out the same tweets to their target (Figure 1) or send different-worded tweets to multiple hashtags, each time giving a tweet a number (Figure 2). They regularly go and target female activists with misogynist insults (Figure3). Along the way of the media offensive, trolls are bound to influence the opinion of some to become "useful idiots" because they are V. Lenin, Trotsky, Marx, and Stalin, that start promoting troll content and tweeting in support of the Zionist agenda.

I love Veterans Today dotcom.
May the Lord have mercy upon your soul.
I knew you would come around and denounce the coup as well as the propaganda war by the gay mafia and the Olympics in Russia the last 12 months.
The terrorist attack in Russia last year was a false flag used as a diversion of the scheming to put in a proxy govt in Ukraine.
This is a war on Christianity as was the Bolshevik Revolution 100 years earlier. Where did Trotsky & Co depart from then? NY City.
Putin had to act in Ukraine.

How on earth is Putin going to tell people in East Ukraine not to defend themselves when Nazis dogs slaughter them in the street? Putin clearly has no control over this. But Obama has control. He could have and should have told those Nazi dogs to sand down amnd a peaceful solution would have been possible. But he wanted to bluff and the bluff blew up in his stupid face. At the same time, they are refusing to recognize defat in Syria.

Huh?

He has 40.000 tanks lined up on the border and you say that he has no control over this?

Ever stop to think what the tanks are waiting for? Why is he letting things develop in Ukraine?

Russia is selling guns to Syria and people and innocent people are killed all the time. Obama tried to intervene but lying scumbagt Putler pretended that he can get peace in Syria.

Obama had to back off and Putler's high and mighty peace negotiations are worlking well, aren't they?

No matter what Obama does he is always the scape goat for haters. Yet a sinister and evil KGB-man is praised to heaven .... yup, things can be turned upside down if there are enough stupid people buying it.

He has not used those tanks YET. Putin has clearly stepped back from the brink. The next move, the move towards peace is up to Obama. The ball is in his court.
Pro-Ukraine wrote:

He does not control it. The people in Lugansk and Donetsk have simply decided not to bow down to Nazism in Kiev. It would be nice and helpful if Putin supported them. But no matter what Putin does, the people will not accept that junta in Kiev. It is an illegal dictatorship and the people are rejecting its authority and legitimacy.

Wrong. Russia is giving free weapons to Syria. LOL!

That is better than having a pro-Israeli terrorist dictatorship in power. There is that word again: dictatorship.

Obama had to back off because the good people of UK refused to follow him into WWIII. Their Parliament voted against it just like Merkel and Hollande are coming out against him now in Ukraine. All intelligent and decent people oppose what the Dummyrats are doing under Obama.

Obama is an evil idiot. He is certainly the worse president in American history.

Putin has 80% approval: http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/worldview... . Plus, people outside Russia think he is right and Obama is wrong. People are even talking about making Putin president of the USA. But, I do not think he wants the job. He is already overworked, poor thing.

Obama's approval is 40% is below: http://www.gallup.com/poll/113980/gallup-dail... . Blame Gallop.
