Why don't they get a job and earn a living. Then they wouldn't be in the cold. I work hard for my money why should someone else get a free place to stay. If that is the case I will sell my house and move into the shelter and save myself $1500 a month.

That's exactly what three families did in Las Cruces after the large homeless shelter complex opened up on the south side. These three families already were receiving assistance for rent, utilities, and food yet they opted for a life of total free handouts that came with moving to the Las Cruces homeless shelter. What great models these parents became!

There is a difference between hand up and hand out. Homeless shelters like what was built in Las Cruces actually promote and perpetuate people's unwillingness to be self-sustaining.

I think it's a wonderful idea! Carlsbad needs a homeless shelter to house these poor souls.

Well don't take it out on the homeless because the locals are so mean, nasty, and ignorant!

You don't speak for all the taxpayers, idiot! Many of us taxpayers are all for it! If SOB's like you don't like it, leave town! It's a great idea to have a homeless shelter here and it will happen! Too many homeless in Carlsbad for it not to happen!

I'm a tax payer that don't want to pay for a shelter. I will agree to buying them each a bus pass to a different city.

I'm a taxpayer that doesn't mind paying for a shelter for Carlsbad's homeless. It's the right thing to do!

All that think it's a good idea should be forced to work it! Down here they kill each other in the shelters, and people that work them have been killed/assaulted/robbed too! They are not living out in the streets because of wonderful social skills.
