Anyone else think it was hysterical how Geoff Fox almost had a stroke about the storm? The morons on WTNH spent what, 45 minutes, going on about tornados and such? Can't wait to see how they flip at the first frost.

Well, What I SAW in Stratford while driving at about 6:30pm last night looked like the beginning of a tornado: dark grayish-greenish clouds above, severe wind gusts, hail the size of golf balls, pounding rain/flooding. I also saw (along with my 7 year old daughter) a telephone pole get struck by lighteneing about 10 feet from my minivan- sparks and fire came flying out while wires flapped around everywhere- very frighteneing. I have never seen anything like this in my 42 years on this earth.

The Merritt was all backed up last night. There was crazy wind and hail! The sound got knocked out at the Trumbull movie theater so they gave everyone free re-admit tickets.

Since when do straight line winds make funnel clouds that are caught on tape and reported to 911 centers in multiple calls???

Yeah? No tornado? Tell it to the guys who posted the YouTube video on www.milforddailyblog.com - it shows a definite funnel cloud coming down and briefly touching the Sound off the beaches of Milford, and then going back up again. And there's rotation in the clouds too.

"No tornado" my sweet patootie. Open your eyes, bub!

I want to know why there were thunderstorms after thunderstorms after thunderstorms yesterday! And after Fox's forecast that morning telling us to expect "a" storm in the morning with clearing in the afternoon! I counted at least 8 separate storms that rolled through the Danbury area, beginning at approx. 10am and lasting until well after 8pm.

And where is the funnel cloud in that video? A tiny bit of rotation maybe but no funnel.

Clueless is appropriate name for you. That's not a tornado. That's a funnel cloud. Its not a tornado until it touches ground. And since its over water it can't be a tornado. If the funnel cloud reached the surface of the water then its a waterspout.

A funnel cloud that touches water is a waterspout not a tornado.

It's been said before but I'll say it once again. The cloud touching the sound off the beaches (touching the water) is a WATERSPOUT not a tornado.

Peaches, since you seem to know more than the National Weather Service, FAA, and local officials: I pose the question, where did you get your meteorology degree?

The NWS sepent money to send people up here to determine this? Wouldn't it have been cheaper to send pictures to them? What would have been gained if it were a tornado? It was history, nothing they could do would have changed things. WASTE, WASTE, WASTE. Tax money down the drain.

Hey dopes, a funnel cloud that touches the ground is a TORNADO.

And a TORNADO that touches water is, yes, a waterspout - but it has to be a TORNADO first. Boy, you guys sure are morons.

And there were calls from Stratford and Fairfield that indicated a TORNADE had touched down. It was later proven that it was a microburst, but so what?
